hi
i have a 16" green carpet anemone and im trying to get some clownfish to go in it but so far no luck.Do you guys know what kind of clown fish will go in and how big they need to be.I tried osellarias and tomato so far but no luck .I was told by LFS to get some wild catch clown fish and that they need to be pretty big in order to go in. Any suggestions? Thanks

My occelaris wouldn't go in anything until I tried a mag - which they instantly went to. Then the mag died :( I purchased a green haddoni and they immediately went into it.

Clarkii is the best bet, they are the only species of clown found in all the host anemone species.

I have a pair of Clarkiis in one of my Haddonis, and a pair of pink skunks in another one.

Have also had a pair of saddlebacks in one of them in the past.

Here's my saddle backs in my 16" haddoni. The clowns range from about 4.5" to almost 6"

Here's my clarkii in the same anemone. She was about 2" in this pic.

I have also had ocellaris in this anemone. A. akindynos, A. chrysogaster, A. chrysopterus, A. clarkii, A. polymnus, and A. sebae are the fish that naturally use haddoni as a host.

thanks for yours reply ,
the question now is should i buy clowns at least 4" long or the small one about 1.5 " should do the job or the size of the fish dont matter

Are you going to get a pair? I would get one larger one, and one smaller one. Think you would have a hard time finding a 4" clown, depending on the species.

try putting one of those clips that look like clowns by the anemone with some food in it to lure the clowns closer thats what i did
