175watt 10k AB Bulb Question

Hi Jason,
I purchased a 175w AB 10k MH bulb from you on April 13th. I recieved it a few days later and put it in my fixture. I have run these bulbs before on my Icecap "old style" ballast without problems for over a year before. This morning I noticed the bulb was not lit and checked everything and the bulb was no good. It has a broken piece of thick glass inside the bottom (inside the screw in part). I put in an older spare bulb and everything works fine. My question is could this just be a bad or defective bulb? Has this happened before and if so which type of bulb would you reccomend? I am going to need a new bulb since the spare is a 6500k bulb and is over a year old.
Thanks!

Hi crgeltn,

I apologize for the inconvenience. AquaMedic typically wants to deal with the purchaser direct on defective items. Let me make a call first thing Monday morning and see what I can do for you. If you dont mind, could you email me over your name, jeremyb@premiumaquatics.com

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy,
Thanks for the info. After a few emails and sending the bulb in for them to inspect they sent me a new bulb. But they also told me that they do not normally replace bulbs that are run on a high fequency ballast (old style IC). I was kinda suprised since it is such a popular ballast. But since the arc tube actually shattered they assumed it was not the ballast just a weird defect in the bulb. Anyway, thanks again for all of your help!:D

Hi Craig,

Thanks for info! That is the first I heard they typically do not warranty in that situation. I will give them a call Monday and see what they say. I'm glad that got you taken care of!

Hi Jeremy,

I just fowarded one of the emails I was sent reguarding the bulb. Just scroll down and it should say where they normaly do not replace bulbs run on high frequency ballasts after telling them I use an IC ballast. Hope it helps.

Craig
