18" Cube Sps Dominant

I think it's time for the intro/build thread, so with with much fatigue, brain ache and tender care I present the 18" cube:

Still getting used to the LED's for photography but I'm loving this Radion xr30w. Got my noise issues sorted with a Sicce Syncra pump and a herbie overflow. Remora hang-on powered off the return in sump isn't skimming yet. In tank circ handled by a MP-10w. Used kalk reactor and first gen Litermeter for topoff. medic29's dual stage MRC nano Ca reactor and tank, reused regulator and a brand new Dwyer flow meter will be heading up Ca support. Rock is a mix of new marco and tufa (thanks Bigbluebh!) with a few pieces of Manado on it's way from Premium Aquatics. Not sure whether to curse or thank syrinx for bartering for the tank and dropping it off at my house. Engineering support and razzing from hcs. Lots more details but those are the highlights.

Those of you who might not recall my last tank, I have some big shoes to fill.

Beautiful tank Epon!!! That has to be one of the cleanest builds I have ever seen. I wish I would have been around to see your last tank!

Thanks guys, will do. Still need to aquascape, get the reactors online and button up the electrical so I feel like there's a ways to go yet. Being able to tune the lights is so nice.

Found some bryopsis spots on rock I got so I'll be spending some time behind the hammer and chisel soas not to be fighting that battle. That and the red wire algae almost took me out last time.

Very nice build! Stunning setup. One of the most effective ways to fight bryopsis, especially in this early stage of setup is to soak the rock in 3% H2O2 for a few minutes outside the tank. It worked for me when my other tank was almost covered by the algae.

thanks for the compliments, this tank hasnt been for sale by me. The tank alone was for sal by another member last year I believe and syrinx did some bartering for it and gifted it to me. My 120g was for sale several years ago, was that the one you were thinking of maybe?

First of all nice tank paul. I will have to stop by and see it sometime. Want to check out those radions.

Tommer, not going to steal frags away from paul (epon), but would love to stop by sometime and see what you got. I work in decatur and get off around 6pm when on days.

leak test for kalk and ca rector both failed. Situated the kalk reactor in the topoff tub fed by a first gen litermeter. Config is as such: 6' of intake 1/4" icemaker line > LM > 4' of water line > kalk reaactor > 30' under house in 1/4" icemaker line directly to tank. Wondering if the pressure reverses/lessens if I were to place the kalk reactor at the end of the 30' run instead of the start.

leaking from o-ring and top two fittings:

Suppose I need to shop for an in-sump kalk reactor and a newer Calcium reactor ...

Can I ask, why would u use both Kalk and calc reactors together? Isn't it usually one or the other? Will be looking to get rid of your leaky Kalk reactor?

When the tank is fully stocked it's going to take both to keep up with calcium demands and I'm wanting to have all the systems online before stocking. I'm going to run this leaky kalk reactor on my frag tank in a place where it wont matter if it leaks and try and find another kalk reactor that is either in sump or able to have some pressure in it for the cube tank.
