I love to read, book recommendations are great!

Voila, a comparison for you, quarter, loonie, and toonie!

Hahahaha! That would be the contents of my change purse, aka my Timmy's fix for tomorrow morning.

Nice progress.
I like your electrical setup looks very nice.
Did you add a durso or anything for your overflow or are you just regulating the height of it with the valve?

There is herby style plumbing in the overflow mostly for sound, and the height is regulated with the valve. I'm too short to get shots in the overflow. I am getting a step ladder tomorrow.

just lurking, but if he missed what a toonie was, he'll be lost on the timmy's comment, but just a few visits for work to ottawa I found the Canadian version of good coffee - tim hortons - maple donut to die for.

.02 back to lurking.

haha being from michigan i remember the loonies and toonies... between the ages of 19 and 21 anyways..... windsor was like a second home-town for a while.

awesome tank build though, gotta give u alot of credit for building your own tank like that and having it turn out so nice looking. love the clams too.

Thank you!

Update on the Vlamingi tang is that we won't be temporarily adopting it this weekend. We just can't get our schedules to mesh. There has also been interest from another party with a 210g system. We'll see what happens with this.

My youngest dog, hereafter known today as Pukasaurus Rex, is out to get me today. If she is on a hard, easy to clean surface, she will withhold being sick until she can get onto something expensive. She got a pair of designer shoes, my new sheets on my bed, and also decided that getting sick in my box of plumbing parts was a good idea. She is lucky she is so cute and lovable, because I loved those shoes. I think I will be spending my morning washing all the extra plumbing parts in that box.

:lol: I feel your pain! Although I've never cared that much about a pair of shoes. But one of my dogs always seem to bring in mud, dead animals or dispose of stomach waste... It is so good they are cute:lol:

I'm searching around to see if I can get my shoes cleaned...otherwise I have to wait until MACNA so I can shop in the US to pick up new ones.

Speaking of MACNA is there anywhere good to shop around there? We are trying to avoid renting a car if we don't have to.

Some updates;
- Food is made, the house stinks like fish.
- We are well under budget so far, which is very nice.
- Vlamingi will probably come home with us in two weeks
- I am trying out SPS again.

The food, all 49.5 bags are chilling out (literally) in the freezer right now. Half of it is already ear marked for other people, some for locals, and some to be shipped out.

We priced everything all together and our total cost to date, including the livestock is just over 1K. $430 for the tank/silicone, $120 wood for the stand, $180 for the electrical, and I've spent $400 on livegoods (rock, fish, sand). The plan is to finish the tank and get everything all up and running for under 2K.

We were at a local reef meet yesterday, and I traded a couple bags of my homemade food for a pair of SPS frags to try out. I know its early, but I have to know if my SPS problem from my 28g long carried over on something, a clam, or with a fish perhaps. I hope it does not.

Since my imperator angel is still doing amazingly well, I wanted to start officially documenting its growth, and eventual change from juvi colours to its final adult pattern.

Some old photos;

This one is from the mid-point in the build of our old 230g in-wall system. It divided our dining room and kitchen in our quaint little house from the 50s.

My stupidly full 24g cube tank, that I regret ever selling. I would take rampaging GHA over constantly dead SPS any day. Looking back, I didn't know how good I had it.

Thank you.

I love my angel. I can already see a few subtle changes between the photos from November and from today. I hope that it can make the full change when the time comes. I am debating a regal angel, and maybe a few others for our 1000g system.

I am apparently a mean wife. Kevin received his tax refund, and I refused to let him spend it useless things, I made him pay off some stuff, and save money. However I also let him pick up Rock Band, and tonight we are going to pick up the glass for the sump.

The sump is going to be 3ft long, 1 ft deep, and 18" tall. I'm not sure about the baffles yet. Photos to come later today.

I traded some homemade food for a pair of SPS frags on Saturday. I am afraid to be jinxing it by posting this, but so far they look good, polyp extension, color, etc. Here is hoping that it will all work out. They look pretty under my 175w MH bulb so far. If they survive long term, I guess they will look even better under a 250w.

Oh sweet, heaven-sent Rock Band. Be prepared to ignore the aquarium for a while while it takes over all your free time.

(Finally able to drum 'Tom Sawyer' on hard here!)

haha - tell him; Rockband and sump glass are definitely high priority stuff - not useless

I figure Rock Band will entertain him for most of his evenings when he isn't doing doing fish tank stuff, or pretending to help around the house. I think he his just bitter that he can't have a Playstation 3 on top of all his other gaming systems.

I think the return pump is going to be either my Reeflo Dart or Snapper. I need to find and order some plumbing parts, and so far I am failing in that job. I need a canadian place to order a 2" true union ball valve from, and another 2" something or other.
