180 Gal Inwall project begins

yes to the greenboard, should help with all that moisture.

Joe- we actually got just what we were looking for, Bill had suggested moving some of them and fortunatly works for what we want for equipment placement.

drywall and plumbing install going on today. (at least till the Bears start)

Half of the drywall was put up yesterday, should be finished today.

Taking my first stab at sweating copper pipe, Andrea is on her way to pick up a fire extinguisher now (just in case). We're putting in a sink and RO unit. Hopefully I don't have any leaks and don't set too much on fire while doing it. Pics to follow.

Good news!!!! I didn't burn down the house. AND, I dont have any leaks. Bad news is it took longer than I thought and the drywall isn't done. We do have running water so its not a total loss.

HEY ROD....

HEY ROD....

I think we've decided on putting in a closed loop system into this tank as well, but have to drill for an intake or two. We'll be running 2- 3/4" sea swirls over the sides for the returns, so return holes won't be necessary. We've heard that Rod is the guy to talk to about drilling, so i guess that's our next step.

Hey Rod, what do you suggest? And are you up to the task?

Thanks

AJ, thanks for the link. we're planning on it, probably tomorrow. We still have time. We have to finish the fish room and stand before we get our tank.

Dennis......

Sounds like everything is going to turn out great! I can't wait to see updated pics! Oh by the way....I bought my 180 from Rod and he drilled it for a closed loop. He does great work.

Question...

We built the frame for the lights last night and was unsure which way the bulbs faces. (Reef Optix III's reflectors - 250 W HQI's)

I contacted Sunlight supply and they said horizontal usually.

Do you mount it so the bulb is parallel to the length of the tank or
perpendicular to length of the tank?

We went horizontal with the tank!

Does it really matter?

Any thoughts on this?

From what I have learned Dennis is that the light is processed from the sides of the lbulb and spreads from there, not the ends. I have my halides running front to back so the entire tank is covered.

Hope that makes sense. That was passed on to me By Rod.
