180 upgrade

Ran it in vinegar for a 6 hours. Hooked it up and started skimming with gate valve fully open. It's crazy how good recirculating skimmers work

It's a great buy

It is. The pump cost as much as the skimmer.

I was going to order the 250 for $37 more, but cancel it because it would too big after talking to Jeremy.

Okay so after reading and viewing the video on reverse check valves I figure I would give it a try. I was able to to install it and remove the noise and splash of the antisiphon holes of my return and also lower the sump water level. If you look at the pic of the sump I made a black line where the sump level use to be and you see where it is now

Also took the time and hard plumbed the seaswirls

hmm.....this is not a reverse check valve.....this looks like a regular check valve

Are you using the lockline as outflow? or just the seaswirls?

Well it's a regular check valve installed in reverse. So water pressure closes it and when power out happens it allows air into return lines breaking siphon

ok :)
all that extra piping confused me. ;) The piping ends above the waterline?

Yes the lock line is just there just in case the valve fails. Also when I turn power back on it let's one or two drops out. It could be installed a little cleaner. I used a old check valve that had hose barb glued in so that's why you see so many lines.

Here is the direction of the valve

Oh man thats sweet. :bounce3: You are giving me so many ideas I'm never gonna finish my build. :fun2: Like I said I'll take you in for a couple of weeks once I get my stand and my tank. i'll feed you well. LOL.

That skimmer is a beast. Recirc skimmer can handle so much more when compared to their similar sized counterparts.
