180g in bedroom????

Was wondering if you folks think that a 180g tank would give off to much humidity in a bedroom. It would be lit with T5 lighting, chiller located outside of room of course, submersible mag drive pump, sea swirls, heaters. Im getting a good deal on one but I dont want it so humid that I cant even sleep in the bedroom anymore. Oh ya temperature in my area right now is 105 degrees (dry not humid), but I wont setup the system for another month or too.

Thanks!

I would think if you're in out West somewhere, perhaps desert-y like Utah, New Mexico, or Arizona, you'll be fine. If you're not, I don't what to tell you. This might be a crazy idea, but fill up your bathtub with water and leave it there all day. See if that makes a change in your bathroom (i know, it's not the bedroom, but it's your next best thing) humidity.

~shrugs~ good luck. :D

I'm a proponent of living room fish tanks, and here is why:

Noise - even the best designed are noisy. why add any chance for noise in the bedroom

Use - how much time do you spend in the bedroom? I mean when you are awake? I know my family spends plenty of time in the living room, if the fish tank was in the bedroom, we'd never really look at it.

if you put in lunar lights then you will probably lose a lot of sleep looking at it for night time activity

when i have to walk all the way downstairs i dont look at the tank at night so often :P

I used to have a tank in my bedroom, it was loud and I had to pee a lot in the middle of the night. They look great though:)

It depends on your circulation in the room. That tank will give off 3-4 gallons per day of water I'm guessing. It has to go somewhere. Might need a whole house humidifier. Your AC will help dehumidify and if it's 105 at your place it will probably be running 24/7

i like my 29 in my room, no sump so its pretty quiet, jus ta vibration form a filter of the MJ mod every now and then

it lulls you to sleep though, its a slight humming sound, im putting it at the foot of my bed soon, the moonlights look so cool in the dark too, they dont relly bug me too much, and whe ni sleep anylight bugs me alot

my room does get hot, i use a window fan to keep it cool, suck in cool night air at night, and my room is pretty small though, maybe 15x10 or so

My 55s in my room and it is way to loud but now if i turn it off i cant sleep go figure? When I wake up I look at my coral and I does help to discover problems early HTH.

You know, it'd be fun to watch your fish and corals when you and her you know ... do it :smokin:

I lived in Arizona last year and had a 90gal in a small bedroom that I did not sleep in.There were also skylights in the room too.The condensation would build up on the skylight above the tank and drip on the floor. It was too late to move the tank after I set it up then! The room "smelled" of humidity, but did not feel humid.

No, that's exotic! kind of like doing it on a reef. Underwater. Surrounded by fish. Off the coast of Tonga?

I have my 65 gallon in my room. There are those moments when it's too loud but i don't think i would ever get to sleep if it wasn't there.

I have a 75g tank in my bedroom and have always kept a tank in my bedroom. actually 2 tnks cuz I have a 20g long setup that was going to be a refugium but never hooked up.
never humid --but the heat off my orbit and my 60inch tv definitely increase the temp of my room in the summer.
noise isnt bad at all where it disturbs me watching tv. sleeping I need backround noise anyway, so I run a loud fan at night

I'd say go for it if your floor can hold it cuz I would.

Oh, and there have been moments when I was puttin' work in and started checking out the fish Lol
