Very nice, are we seeing another room through the tank or a reflection of something on the other wall? (Will it be seen in two rooms?)

Just a reflection. Not a see-through tank. My last tank - a 240g - was a peninsula-style room divider. Wanted something different this time.

Here are some pics of my "facade" - aka my fake cabinets :D

Our kitchen designer is brilliant. I asked for a facade which could be removed in pieces and which could be removed quickly and easily. He came up with (4) panels. Each panel simply hangs on to the subframe via simple hardware.

1) View of Tank and framing - tank is screwed into the wood frame, which is screwed into the kitchen cabinets...my tank is staying put during an earthquake

2) Close-up of framing - notice the hardware which the facade hangs on

Very nice tbone! That is exactly the idea I was going for with my stand. I had the option of going magnetic as well for easy access.

Did you end up using the magnets? How are they working out? My panels are on the heavy side - don't want to worry about magnets keeping the upper panels "up".

You guys think I should paint the frame to protect it from the water?

tbone, you only have to ask me once! ;) jk My stand isnt built yet, but that was the plan. It wouldnt hurt to paint it, but only help.

LOL, had no idea I double -posted until I read your response :D ...build a new stand??? Don't you already have one? Or you building a new facade?

No, not yet. You must of missed the post where I said I blacked out the black frame area in photoshop. It's coming though! One day! :) I was waiting on that BioMatix controller to be fully released so I can integrate like I had in my pics, but Im not sure what's going on with them anymore. Im sticking with black formica so it would match all the other equipment.

Yeah, must've missed it. Can't wait to see your final stand...I'm sure it'll be awesome looking, just like your tank! Your tank is actually what sold me on A.G.E during my decision making process! ... trully awe-inspiring.

I didn't notice any ventilation in the cabinet. Did I miss it?

Are you referring to the area above or below the tank? If above:

If below, there is about 4-5" of space between the back wall and stand/tank, so any moisture/heat would go up and behind the tank through the opening you see in the pic

Wow, my mouth just dropped open and stayed open as I read through the thread.

What an absolutely gorgeous tank and kitchen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you post more progress pictures as you go along. I think the Bay Area has gained another show stopper aquarist.
