the deluxe is easier to adjust the foam and it is a recirculating external design so more efficient, the SM is in sump single pass with dual cone design but is a good price for what you get

There are internal DeLuxes too?
Or did you mean something else?

well their are internal deluxes but it is avalable in external the SM is not,

the Recirculating, the shape of the skimmer and fine adjustment are the real differences.

if this goes on the mod will move to current forum :D

my favorite shot

Danskim - the SM is designed for "smaller spaces". It has a double cone design, is shorter than the Deluxe.

The Deluxe can be fine tuned more easily than the SM. It is also better able to skim dry than the SM can.

I wanted a Deluxe, but would have needed a custom collection cup made due to my tall sump. Klaus said there would be no upcharge for this, but I still hesitated (what if I cracked the cup? How long would it take to get a new one?).

I decided to give the SM a try after seeing nog pics from kennettson1's SM :) It also doesn't hurt that you get a bigger pump than the deluxe, and it's cheaper :)

I say, if you have the space and willing to spend the extra money, go Deluxe! But it would also be nice to have another member join the BK SM club :) They're coming out with an SM300 after Interzoo. pump to pull 3000lph air. You can upgrade the pump to 4000 lph!

Ryan - Sohal was just added a couple weeks ago. don't tell me about bigger tanks. This 180 is a downsize for me! I had a 240 in our last house, but couldn't find a spot for it in this house.

Thanks for the refresher, but I forsee another tangent in about....3 posts! :D

I'm just waiting for delivery on the skimmer. Not backordered, at least I hope not.

Bart - what do you like about that shot? the BOOZE?

Nice open floor plan T. How many square feet is the house?

Wow, a Sohal. I want one too, but am afraid it'll become too aggressive and/or outgrow the tank. Did you have one in your previous tank?

thanks Paul. house is 3950sf

I love Sohals. my favorite fish. I guess I've been lucky. I had 2 Sohals in my last tank (one died unexpectedly), and both were so mellow. Just cruised around minding its own business.

It was in there with a bunch of other tangs - yellow, purple, blue, PBT, Achilles, vlamingi, naso, dussemeri

I have a thing for tangs :D

Man, you beat me by about 200 sq. ft.

Does that have dual meanings? ;)

When will I add the Achilles?? As soon as a friggin LFS has one!!! I've been looking for months now! And I"m not too partial in ordering livestock online. I like to see 1st :)

In my last tank, I fed frozen Formula one and Spirulina cubes, frozen PE Mysis, Spectrum pellets, and Seaweed Selects.

Never had to defrost anything, cuz as soon as I dropped the cubes in the tank, they would tear it apart. The family room/kitchen setup was similar in our last home, but my tank was a peninsula-style room divider between family room and office. The fridge was on the opposite side of the house. All my tangs would "hover" at the glass as soon as I opened the freezer!! :D If I opened the fridge side, they kept swimming around  I could walk around the tank, and they would keep following me!

This time, I;m feeding more stuff. formula one, spirulina cubes. PE Mysis. frozen brine. spectrum pellets, formula one and two pellets, cyclopeeze, seaweed select. I throw in different stuff everytime I feed. Once i get more fish, I'll throw it all in at once :)

Tbone,

Cool Tank. I really like the style of your kitchen and how you

incorporated your tank into the design. I live in the southbay what part

of the bay area are you in.

Are the internal Deluxe's recirculating, too?

Edit: just saw your "occupation" LOL  have you seen Sang's sig? :D

I was confused what he meant by that, but he just meant that the DeLuxes are available in external recirculating.

Oh yeah.. I gotta get that top down shot. Sorry I forgot last night!
