What a minute. You removed the sump, extracted the skimmer and inserted the new one and all we get is three pictures?! Where are the rest of the pictures of you struggling and squirming to get the old one out and the new one in? Let's see how it fit in the stand too.

LOL, I'm so sore today. I stayed up way late last night doing this. I have a 80+ gallon sump, so I had to drain it, the fuge, and my freshwater reservoir. I think I have like 40 pounds of sand in my fuge. Add that to the weight of the sump, which sits on top of rubber pond liner, and it's friggin hard to slide the sump enough for me to lift it up and pull it out. Then, of course, I clean out the sump before I put the new skimmer in, and you got one tired puppy today, but it looks like it was worth it :)

Damn, how did I miss this? Looking great!

Thanks. If it's skimming like this so early, and I don't even have the bioload that I want, I don't think I'll be cutting out that cone anymore ;)

Hornets are good. I hope they helped start a 22 game slide for the Rockets :) Warriors > Hornets :D

Looking good Terry. Make sure you run it dry for the first 10 days to 2 weeks.

So far, I'm glad I give it a try and made the move. I have my water level right at the bottom of the collection cup right now. Is that dry enough?

Nice! How long did it take to make that?

From late last night til about 6pm tonight. Looks like it's breaking in nicely :)

Skimmer impressions

Build quality is awesome. It is soo much heavier than my Euroreef. Pump is silent, which is a necessity for me. And I like that the collection cup holds more volume than the ER.

This skimmer barely fit into my sump. It has a pretty big footprint because of the pump.

I'm not a fan of the engraved lid. I think it looks corny. I would rather have the older, smooth white lid. I also would prefer a red-colored pump intake, rather than the yellow one.

Loors very good Terry! Dont think you will regret going with the BK in the end ;) How much skimmate can you pull out every week? How long was it running on that picture?

WOW, love that candy floss looking bubbles coming over the top of the neck. Looks like it is running nicely.

I was thinking that skimmer lid would be a nice avator or maybe for the ultimate in corny avators you could do nice combo pic w/ the yellow intake??? :D haha just kidding of course....well?? maybe a poll??? :)

Take Care,

Chad

Oh man... perfectionist. ;)

Yeah, no thanks on those anthias.

Haha I wouldn't buy them either, but I just saw that they were rare.
Ventralis anthias are better looking IMO and a lot cheaper.

I really like the ventralis, but aren't they hard to get feeding? How much do those guys sell for?

Yeah, I read they are hard to feed too. I know liveaquaria gets them from time to time, and they go for about $60 each.

I want to get a trio myself, but I think my tank is almost crowded now.
