hey jarhead - so why did you bleach the rocks? do you prefer to start your systems with dead rock? i was thinking of going that way to avoid pests, but obviously there are pros and cons. sorry to hijack - but would love to hear your thinking on this. (hopefully i'm not the only one.)
 
Two reasons:

1. I was bore out of my mind, the only thing that closest to reefing is cooking my rock. As first i did water change on it weekly, then in couple days then i decided to bleach it :D

2. I used to have Mantis, and many other unwanted critters in my rock. I just want to bleach and kill everything and will start it fresh. I am not in a hurry so i will take my tank to seed the rock and cycle the tank. I don't want all the aptasia nightmare come back to me after setting up the new tank.
 
OK, here's the *periodic* "on-topic" post :D

Received my new filters for my RODI. Swapped out the sediment, carbon block, and DI resin. The RO membrane is only 5 months old, so I didn't change that one.

New water is testing TDS of 1 on my free, cheapo Intellitec TDS meter :)

Also test my display's water. Everything is stable, but my pH went up. It's usually rock steady at 8.2. It was 8.4-8.5 tonight! Tested it twice to make sure. I'm wondering if all the extra Tunzes have something to do with this. Do you guys think the Tunzes are aerating the water enough to raise the pH? Is that high of a pH safe?

Oh, BTW, picked up a baby clown tang the other day while I was at AG - you know, the place with the hottie cashier ;) I'm taking a chance with my Sohal, but I've always wanted a clown and could never find one that eats. This little guy's eating mysis and frozen brine :) He's in quarantine right now.
 
maybe right about now Tbone we can use some pics of any new arrivals or skimmer in action. if the skimmer isn't setup yet, please throw some vinegar in there so we can have just a sneak preview of how well it skims, and you can't keep it BNIB forever :lol:.
 
ok you might as well dig a grave for the baby clown cuz he's definitely not gonna make unless QT for 2 months prior to entering the system, where then he might not be to scare even eat :D.

I hope my chances for a taker are better than I think they are :D
Price wise, they add up to the same. I just hope someone is looking for 2 streams, and they'll give up their 6101
 
Is the new skimmer installed yet? If not, you have no business posting n this thread again Tbone. Get 'er dun.
 
didn't they tell you what needed to be done finding these solutions out? you have been through almost every threads here on RC and still cant figure what it means? you got to be kidding me :lol:
 
Sorry, I had to- GO KINGS :lol: Its funny though, we are the only team in the NBA who has beat every 1st place divisonal team and we still suck :(

haha, i was going to post on your thread, but resisted my urge to T-bone it :D

BTW, Artest is on Roids. That's the only reason they won. I'll put an * next to that W in your win column :lol:
