60 bucks I can do. I'm not one of those reefers who can spend hundreds/thousands on a fish...makes me too nervous if they don't make it!!

Bart, pictilis are nice too. Isn't that the one that Edward (Invincible569) had? Aren't those colder water anthias?

I don't know about the pictilis, but the ventralis comes from the deeper part of the reef that is colder by at least 5 degrees I think. So if you get them, you probably have to acclimate them for a while.

awesome! glad to finally see some shots of the BK up and running. when you consider just how wide the collection cup is, thats a hell of a lot of skimmate for only 2 days.

Dan - so the ventralis normally live in about 75 degree water?

Bax & Ryan - thanks. I'm very happy with it thus far. To get that type of nog only after a couple of days is awesome. Yes, that collection cup is HUGE! I could barely fit it into my sump.

The Borbonius Anthias are actually very beautiful in person. Live Aquaria/Divers Den has many in stock that I saw last weekend. They can grow quite large for an Anthia, but the smaller ones are my favorite. They also had a tank full of the Ventralis Anthia's as well. Keep your eye on Divers Den for those!

How (and how long would it take) to acclimate a Ventralis?? I really like those.

The borbonious is not the most beautiful fish, but I like it cuz it's different.

Agreed. The color and patterns are what make them different/unique from the others. If they were a lot cheaper than $300, I'd think about it!

Probably several hours (maybe 6?) vs like 2 hours for a normal fish. I'm not an expert though :)

Also you'd probably have to dim your lights/raise them up and slowly increase intensity for them to be comfortable too.
