Steve, very curious about the 6201 mod. How does it exactly increase the flow?

- Increased gph?
- Increased gph with a more broad flow pattern?
- Increased gph with the same flow pattern as the 6201?
- Increased gph with a more narrow flow pattern like 6101?

also, by cutting out the slats, is the Tunze still able to push water the same distance across the tank?

Terry, I can't say for sure that the mod help increase flow but i notice stronger flow and lesser maintenance.

So, I bet you really liked it when he added sand ;)

Biggest mistake i ever make is adding sand into my establish tank.

Why do you say that? What if you added sand at the time you were setting up your tank?

what does this mean, Nick?  :D

i was saying "that" out of the options you posted for the mod results i beleive it adds more flow with the same flow pattern, and less clogging.

What happened Steve? Did you not rinse it well enough. I think it looked a lot better though ;)

I should use dry sand instead of live sand, even the Zeovit system clean out the water in couple weeks but the corals show sign of stress.

I was wondering if you were running zeo at that time. I know that you were having that funky plating stuff if I remember correctly.

Mine is always pretty white thanks to my flow, the goby, the snails and the two red serpent stars.

I didn't run Zeovit during the time because i want to see if my system will be the same without Zeovit.

My sand stay white too but the first two weeks when i add the sand, some bacteria die off and create the PO4 and NO3 spike. My PO4 went from .03 to .26 and NO3 approx 100ppm.

Steve couldn't stopping zeo and adding sand at the same time have led to a snowball effect of raising nutrients.

if you had continued the zeo wouldn't you have retained the ability to try lowering nutrients from the sand die off?

i may be confused as to the sequence of events though.

I think i got you confuse as well GSM. At the time when i add the sand, my tank was back on Zeovit for couple months. The picture i posted was back in May 2007, i did not run Zeovit during the time.

Jeff, an alternative is to put the 6201 shroud on it. Invincible569 did this. It broadens the flow, but you lose some distance. May not be an issue in a 4' tank (Invincible has a 6' tank)

Mark - you can order from Tunze website. They're 50 bucks each though, IIRC. FWIW, Edward wasn't happy with the shortened flow in his 6' tank. He's back to the 6101 shroud.
