1st Saltwater Fish You Kept?

As it seems like almost everyone started with either damsels or clowns, why dont you list your second fish as well.

Second fish was a purple firefish

Second fish was a second tank. The 'killer tank'. 110 gallon tall. Had to be custom made back in the '70s. I had it All the way thru high school and college.
Panther Grouper, red volitans lionfish, red emporer snapper, snowflake moray, picasso trigger and an Orbicularis batfish. They all got along great.
All started at around two inches. After 9 years the fish almost could not even turn around.
I loved that tank!

My first fish was a powder brown tang :,( , sadly I didn't know crap when I started. haha lets just say he only lived 3month

My green spotted puffer. 2 years later shes doing great. Though she is getting cranky, bites me every time I put my hands in the tank

1980, 20 gallon long with crushed Bahama bottom substrate with an under gravel filter with power heads, (state of the art). Blue devil damsel was first, come to think of it nothing else seemed to last long with him....

My first saltwater everything

My first saltwater everything

Was looking for a larger fish tank to house my FW Jag and Green terror. I ran across a 180 gl, saltwater tank, three years old that I wanted to convert to FW for $650. When we got there we saw this guy still had it set up with SW and the most beautiful tank ever. He offered to give the whole set up for under a thousand. So JUmped in head first and got my first everything June 2013. Everything is still looking great and learning as I go. Yes, I did find the Jag and Green Terror something else.

My Adopted fish Family.

1 Hippo
2 Yellow tangs
3 Clowns
4 Chromes
1 Coral Beauty
1 Scooter Blenny (my fav)
1 Yellow Wrasse

10 pieces of coral.

Love everything I got.

In the older days going back to mid 90's and before, damsels were used mainly for cycling purposes. So any reefer/fo tank from those days was most likely started with damsels. There also weren't many reefs back then and the cycling the bacteria with shrimp or whatever with live rock was not very common. I started with blue devils and dominos.

Back in the early 90s, 20g with a blue devil damsel and and a three stripe damsel. . . gifts from my uncle John, had them until I went away to college in 2000...
