2.5 Gallon Pico Need help

They need substantial amounts of phytoplankton - much more than we should dose in such small tanks. Large amounts of phyto + small tanks = major algae issues.

What you can do... I've heard of it working for some people, but I personally was too busy/lazy to do it on a regular basis...

Is to take the scallop out every now and then (literature on how often to do this is sparse) give it a phytoplankton bath. Meaning put it into a smaller container with SW and put lots of plankton it. Once you feel the scallop has been fed return to tank...

This can kind of be a pain in the ***, but will definately prolong the scallop's lifetime. I'm not sure for how long though, worth a shot.

Yes sounds like a lot of work. I also read an article that you shouldn't move the flame scallop. Most like to hide in rock and people try to move them to front of display. This can lead to them dying. Can't choose there home.

I was just about to mention the phyto-bath method if you were intent on keeping a flame scallop. The stress is generally worse than the starvation on their health. Avoid them until you get the larger tank.

There are plenty of inverts that will thrive in your 2.5. I will be adding sexy shrimp in the next few days. Sweeeet.

Just a couple of updates and new additions.

Expecting my new light today. 18w current satellite with 9w 10k daylight and 9w actinic. Cant wait.

One more question. The Aqua Clear 30 has 3 filter method. Should i leave the filtration in place or make some changes.

Current :
1. Mechanical: Foam filter
2. Chemical: Activated Carbon insert
3. Biological: Biomax ceramic rings.

once i add the LR i am planning on throwing in bag of PhosBan.

Thanks again guys.

Try and find some Siporax beads to increase your filtration.
