You said you blue carpet was never the same after the spawning incident which occurred; how so? Was it wondering, gaping mouth, or something else? Just curious as I had to return my blue carpet due to it being from my perception, "unhappy." My clowns just stirred the sand too much around the base of the foot causing it to shift positions and causing rockslides, so i'm back to a colony of rose and gbta's.

The red carpet looks good btw and how is the black coloration coming along with your SI percs?

First, it was a stress induced spawning -- long story short...Had to have emergency surgery (( CSF leak )), and didn't have time to contact my usual tank sitter. The main pump ran dry, temp dropped to 70* and the SG went up to 1.031. After that it would deflate on a almost weekly basis for a day or 2. (( Prior to that it would only deflate when it was touched by me during a water change )).

I have to get a new pic of the SI percs, but the regaining of the black has seemed to slow down, but still better then when they were in the LTA. And they keep spawning every 2 weeks, so they seem happy.

Dude, I am soooo sorry to hear about your anemones. Hind sight may be 20/20, but there is no way you could have foreseen this happening. I'm just glad you didn't throw in the towel. There are allot of anemones, like your new red one, that need a good home. I can't think of a better place for them to end up than in your care.

I won't lie, as I was taking out the blue one (( the red one had already died )), I was tempted just to sell off everything. But, finding the new red one, and seeing it do well (( granted it has only been a month )) helped get me back into it.

Todd, if you had sold everything off I think there would have many disappointed people on this board! I'd have to agree 110% with Elegance Coral, I can't think of anywhere else a big nem could end up better than in one of your tanks! I'll keep by ears to the ground and let you know if I run across a blue one!

Been a busy last 5 days -- not tank wise, but health wise, too many doctors. But, I did manage to get some new pictures last night.

First, the pink skunk pair is pretty happy in the green haddoni (( they used to have the blue one )), was able to get a decent picture of the male cleaning the eggs;

And a couple more of the red Haddoni -- really seems to be settling in and getting its color.

This is sort of how it looks when I walk up the stairs -- love seeing the red Haddoni sitting there.

(( granted, I usually see the de-humidifier first, but moved that for the picture ))

Another FTS shot, but from up at the landing. (( the color is a bit off, but pretty close ))

And finally a shot of just the anemone. (( again the color is a bit off, but it was difficult to get the anemone's color to show up right, and not have the live rock look over-saturated )).

I can measure it, but I want to say around 2 inches. Shallow enough that I feel comfortable gravel vacuuming it, but deep enough to keep the Haddonis happy.

Sorry to hear about all of this. It is heartbreaking losing these animals, as I found out myself after having one so long. In any case, and more importantly, are you okay? That seems very serious.

Doing okay --- will know more next week, having another MRI on my back tomorrow, a year later and I am still having issues. They think that I have herniated the disc again and might have to have the 2 vertebrates fused.

But, when I had the CSF leak that was pretty major -- enough so that they did surgery at 10:30 PM on a Saturday, and was in the hospital for 6 days. After that I was on oral morphine for 4 months -- good times.

Yuck that sounds miserable, I feel for ya. On a lighter note thanks for the reply about the sand bed. I have always heard 4 inches as a minimum for these guys and in the past all my tanks had deep sand beds so it was not a problem to house them properly. I recently picked up a new one, but my current display tank only has about 2 inches as well so I was debating adding more. Your haddonis have always looked so good I figured I'd ask.

I'm currently dosing and was thinking about getting a RBTA or a LTA. Would that be a bad idea for the health of them and if you could explain it that would help. I don't want to make anything sick or kill it in ignorance. Thanks

Personally I wouldn't do it -- given what I went through.

I would be a bit leery of doing it with a newly introduced anemone -- in my case it really effected new/stressed ones.

Though I have to wonder if you already dosing (( as opposed to starting the dosing shortly after introducing the anemone )) might make a difference -- the bacteria levels may have steadied. If you do continue and the new anemone(s) start to look stressed I would stop and do a couple of large water changes.
