Snorvich is well respected here and certainly has mine. If you want help, he would guide you in the right direction as many would. Isn't that why we're here?

And it's not about respect. It's about what works in who's tank at any given time frame. some people's life experiences doesn't always do justice.

In this hobby as far as I'm concerned, knowledge and experience command respect. But that's just me.

@dallas_reefer I find this completely fascinating and I'm not being snarky in the least. It always fascinates me when people are argumentative on a topic that really isn't debatable, and will taunt and scream their misinformed "works for me" opinion from the roof tops to the point of actually begging for an infraction. I would love for you to explain to me why it is you think that this is a good idea, or why it is that you think that rallying behind an opinion that flies in the face of what is generally accepted is productive.. I mean, what is it about all this that you find "satisfying" or worth while?
Once again, I'm not being snarky, I don't agree with your opinion, but I also pretty much dismissed it immediately in that it it so far away from what is accepted, and I assume most did the same. I just find the desire for conflict fascinating, and wondered if you might have wondered what it is about your personality that makes you enjoy it.

Your attitude isn't going to earn you any respect as a reliable source of information regarding this hobby. Long term success and experience will always trump those who choose to fling virtual poo.

So to the OP, I would listen to these guys. Apparently, your desires aside, a sailfin is probably going to get
Too big. It's cool to have "big eyes" but can be costly later.
Don't listen to me or my methods. What I've got NOW and have been working on, works. FOR me. Nothing everyone does ALWAYS works for another's tank or experience. I've done some pretty unorthodox crap in this hobby. And 95% of it has worked. So take THAT FWIW.
Just wish I had a 12' tank.
