ok i've had one of these for a couple of weeks and it seems to be doing pretty good - question is do i actually need to feed it (2" Tridacna Maxima) something such as DT's using a feeding bell? -> some people are saying no, and some are saying yes. Which is it?
thanks :)
oh ya - and what about water quality, we talking pristean or a bit dirty ? -i've also heard conflicting reports, so which is it?

Yes till about 3", Good water with slight NO3 is fine. Light, light , light and more light.

Thanks for the response -
So is DT's fine? and how much, how often? Also should i try feeding it anything larger then DT's such as cyclopeeze - (I'm 99% certain that the answere is probably no, but i though i'd ask anyway)
& as for light I think i'm ok - it's 8" under 110 watts of PC in a 6 gallon.

DTs is better than cyclop b/c it is the right size for a clam to eat. The live phyto does not clump together and get too big. Put in enough to turn the water slightly green and it should clear up in about 30 minutes as the clam filters it. 3 times a week should be fine.

If my clams need that much food they are going to starve to death.
Mine are lucky to get DT's twice a month.

IMO, you do not have the right light- you need MHs for maxi's - not just flor. wattage. And as jda said DTs. in such a small tank, I am sure you do not need to remove for feeding. Feeding methods do differ. What/Which is "right" is allways up to debate!!!!!!
