2000g System overview

the dimensions are I belive 18" wide is the body of the skimmer by about the base is close to 24" squared and its close to 5 ft high.

So, what is the diameter oft eh diffuser plate? 16"? That looks so sickening. I hope you become very obssessed with locking your doors and windows because with as close as I live that thing will never be safe LOL................

Wow! That's a lot of parts. :) I must have bought 5 or 6 times from Savko before I had it all together. The sweeps are cool. I used a lot of flexible PVC so I didn't need many elbows etc. but I would definitely use sweeps instead.

hey spazz can you explain the difference between the two motors on the dart?
sure
the only real difference is in the motors them selves. baldor brand motors are made for the industral trade. where the A.O.Smith motors are not as heave duty rated. the baldor motors have an aluminum case with cooling fins all the way across the main body of the motor. wheere the ao smith motors dont. when the mootrs are under that kind of load the tend to heat up. the ao smith motors cant handle that and the thermal protection switch pops. which shuts down the motor. the baldors with there more effecient cooling systme can disapate the heat and not trip the thermal shut down switch. you can use an ao smith motor but you have to be very careful with the wattage draws and drag on the motors. even though the wattages are alot lower than the motor is use to runnign at the drag caused by the design of the needle wheel causes the mootrs to heat up. it the cooling systme cant handle that then it just shuts down until the motor cools off. this is the main reason to use the baldor motors for needle wheels. i was getting surface temps of 140-150 deg off the ao smith motors. and 100-110 off the baldor motors. and that extra heat can be transferedto the water. so its better all around to use the baldor motors. the problem there is there tough to find. they dont make them any more so you have to find used ones.

Wow what a thread I was sat here in th U.K pointing at bits and saying to the gf look at this..... look at that..... He's going to do........ And he's got a .......... and thats as big as you..... look at his son in there :) I'm getting some dissaproving looks!! :D Keep it up and more pics lol

ohh ok i didnt realize that you have to find them used.where do you get the needlewheel for the dart? i have a new dart with the ao smith motor.

in this application, the dart is not really dealing with a huge load being recirculated on the skimmer right?no head pressure?any estimates on what the body of the skimmer will cost me to be made?im real interested in this, being that the dart is cheaper to buy and less wattage then multiple needlewheels.plus less parts to maintain.tank is looking so good.cant wait to see some water flowing in it.
