2000g System overview

I will have tank filled with a week of getting it. Everything is great down here in florida

I really don't mind people asking about $$$. Its a touchy subject with many here but feel free with me. I belive we are all in this together and can learn if we are over paying by sharing the information. I paid close to 3k for the tank, but it should have been closer to 2k if I had not added the 3 panels of starfire, outside overflows and all the holes I made. I had Karen at Exotic here in Miami build it. She just finished a 1200g for another person. Feel free to tell her I sent you.

WoW! Nice piece...although not good hangover material. I see you answered my question about the holes. Between that material and the open stand style, you really could put quite a bit of stuff under the tank if you wanted. I am interested to see if you lay anything between the granite and the tank and I wonder how the thermal properties of the slab will affect your system. It might actually help maintain temp. levels!

>>> That's the game plan. I have a 240 sump thats going under there as well.

>>>> I will be putting the usual HD white sheets under the tank. I was told the granite is to hard for the tank.

>>> I doubt it but I hope so

No problem... always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. Great looking tank, and the workmanship is simply awesome. It's going to be a beautiful tank, and I can't wait to see it with lots and lots of xenia (J/K) Now I just need to get your wife to talk my wife into letting me have one!!!

Give my wife sometime. she had no idea what I ment when I gave her the size of the tank. She almost killed me when she saw the truck coming down the street. She thought it was going to be ALOT smaller. I know she will get used to it. .... I Hope... I Hope ... I Hope...

nyvp I really like your use of granite. Could you give me an idea what a slab that size runs? I'm looking into one roughly 84"x42" and am trying to figure out whether it's in the budget.

Brett

The slab cost $400 it was 120x48 and the polisher was another 600 to finish. they run about 25-30 per linear foot of polished edge, That is if you really do your homework and find the right guys.

My wife went with me when I first checked out the 1000g I bought. We viewed it in a garage and she signed on no problem. I had it in the backyard waitning for construction and she cam eout one day and asked, "what the hell is that?" I said that's the tank honey, and she asked, "that's going in the house?"

I just about fell down laughing, but of course I couldn't let it show. POKER FACE. "Yes dear, I have it all planned out..."

That is one sweet tank. How are you going to deal with the noise of the overflow?

You got a tremendous deal on that slab!

the overflows are 2- 2" so I think I should be ok on the noise. You guys cant see but the granite and cabinets will be the same as the ones in the kitchen, It's all in the planning.

I don't know about the noise level but you do have a fairly deep overflow box so you could use dursos to quiet it down if needed.
