2000g System overview

thesaent14- sorry nyvp I just want it to show as a example

No worries thesaent14 my thread is your thread.

CoralFiend -yes thank you for the thread link. I have read that thread a couple of time very helpful.

spazz- please send me a link to the exchanger

jnarowe- The cistern will be buried in the ground. As I mentioned I belive the ground temp is pretty high here. From what I've heard its closer to 75-78. When I did the hole I will measure it as I dig.

daywn- thanks for the compliments wait and see next week when its finished with the add granite molding

I know it would be too expensive :) but would be cool. Are you planning on wrapping it or leaving it nice and open?

jay24k-
if you look back on page 4 you will see jeffbrig's tank with the kitchen cabinets that I hope to install. ( unless my wife changes her mind... I mean my mind : )

jnarowe- That's why I wont make a decision till I dig the hole and take a temp at different heights and at differnt times of the day.

i cant. one of the r/c moderators removed the thread. i can tryto get pics from bill on its design. its really simple to build and would work as good or better than a factory one. the reason for that is alot more titanium tubes inside will cool the water better.

Spazz- Sounds good I'd appreciate the time if you could find the pictures for me. How goes my skimmer build?

Joe, you may want to talk with Matt (Treeman). He buried a loop of several hundred feet of PVC to try to get some cooling for his propagation system. I vaguely remember reading that the ground temps were warmer than he expected, and offered very little cooling effect (esp. in the summer).

Here's a better picture to give you an idea:

Not to derail the thread, but everytime I see those pictures of the cabinetry and granite I cannot get eough. That is some serious wood........

your tank is no slouch either. Hey dgasmd have you found that dart yet with the baldor motor yet? I need one also for the skimmer Spazz is building for me. If you see an extra pls give me a PM

i thought the darts come with hubbell motors?i didnt know that the baldor motors were available.are they more efficient?

also...i second the suggestion about the won heaters.i had one go bad on me a couple months ago.thank god it was in my 27 gallon salt mixing tank.i came home and the water was almost at boiling point.

I'm going to run the won heaters off of my neptune III controller so I should be ok as of over heating and that is also why I went with 4 - 250's instead of one big one. From what Ive seen there really isnt one GREAT heater. If you ask 100 people everyone has had one heater go bad on them. I've read through a lot of posts and there was bad press on almost all of them.

Dart used to come with baldor motors. Now they come with al smith or fasco motors. Baldor motors run cooler and last longer.

As far as the heaters go, I would not run them off the AC for a couple of reasons. If it is the type of heaters that come with the electronic temperatre controllers in them, the AC may have interferance with them turning them off or on, so you run the risk of failure at the worst possible time. I would runt hem with a ranco single stage controller, which can be found at www.diyreef.com already wired and ready to go for $79. It will also serve you as another temperature read (an extremely accurate too), and will allow for reducndancy. You don't want to trust your entire tank/system to a single controller regardless of how good it is. If you talk to the above people before you order, they can even wire the plug for you with 3-4 outlets so you can plug in all your heaters there. Yo can also get the titanium heaters that come without a temperature controller atttached to them. That is what I did. I bought a 1000w unit and plugged it to the ranco controller. Works extremely well and very safe too.

Damn Jeff, that is freaking tight. Did you build that? I'd love to take a look at that and replicate it when I build my rec/bar room.

Yep...it's a DIY stand/canopy. The exterior doors and trim are made by kraftmaid (and match our adjacent kitchen), but we designed and built the entire structure. You can find plenty of details on the design/construction in our tank thread.
