20k xm or 20k ushios

i run ushios now and have for many years, however im wondering if there is more par with xm or not.. also color love the ushios but just want to throw up a pole to see what others think

Love my Ushio's. Ive had Ushio, XM, & Reeflux. I had the Ushios the first time, and went back to them. Nice coloration and lasted a really long time.

what wattage & DE or SE?
Phoenix 14k have great color and great PAR!

XM 20k DE 250 are dim and purplish blue...

250 both DE or SE, i dont see a difference between the two ushios. i have a 3 DE fixture and a SE over the last end. they look identical.

Try EVC 250 w de 20k.Great par and color.Only problem is they are hard to find right now.

I've used 20,000K Radiums, EVCs and XMs and that's my order of preference.

Are the ushios a whiter type of 20k? Do you need to run actinics with them? I like a bluer tank then white. I ran 14k ushios a while back and they were whiter then other 14k bulbs. I heard that the xm"s where the closest to a radium for a probe type bulb. I always wanted the radiums but I do not have the proper ballest.

Run the Ushio 20k on aquamedic m-80 ballasts and I found them to be a nice cool white with a very noticeable actinic spike. I would not call them blue, not like a pheonix or radium is blue.

they will run on the whiter side if you run a magnetic ballast, as to an electronic. i run the new Galaxy and they are blue.

this has been understood, but not the question. they do not make a DE bulb in 20k 250w. and is this a 250 or 400?

ditto on the Ushio 14K...more like most 10k's..still seems to have just a slight hint of yellow. But it is a Bright bulb!!

Currently I am using the XM20k DE, and they are sort of blue, about as blue as my Pheonix Hexarc Bulbs were.Corals look Great under both.

I used Radiums w/ great results when I was runnung MH. Would never use anything else.
