Updates,
i am now using 20k bulbs
acans are in my sump until i catch the flame angel that likes to eat them.
had a couple anthias die from my flame hawk but he is now back at the LFS.
added:
mystery wrasse
blue hippo
twin spot goby
harlequin shrimp (two)
pistol shrimp (two)
crocea clam
maxima clam...a while ago
deresa clam (large one....16")
and some frags....
i am not really happy with the overall color of the tank. Even with the old 10k bulbs it has way too much purple and no green. I am considering scaping all the coraline off the glass. I need to find some more gorgonians that are colorful and more sun corals.
i would say it was mainly part of my tank only being up for a couple months and using tap water with really high tds. so the rodi unit and six tangs helped clear things up a lot. also the marco's in the fuge are helping more since they have grown. took out bio balls but dont really think that affected things much since they were so new.
those 20k's take some getting used too....i have had them in the past but they are soooo blue!!! You loose a lot of other colors. I am going to try them for the rest of summer and see what happens with coral growth. if they slow them down i will go back to 10 or 12k
20Ks are a bit blue to my eyes as well. I wonder what a tank would look like with 20k MH and then a 10 or 56ooK PC to bring out some more colors? It seems like that would be less par though than switching the MH to a 12 or 14 K bulb and keeping the PC actinic. What brand ae the MH bulbs? Some brands are bluer than others.
well clam is all done spawning....no pictures i was to much in awe of the event and mad googling to find out more about it to know what to do. turns out i didnt need to do anything. skimmer took care of the mess.
almost all my chaeto just went aesexual a couple hours ago.... clouded up the tank for an hour.....
I dont know what i would do without this skimmer....worth its weight in gold...better buy a back up.LOL
