So after a couple of months of attempting to dose to keep up with the demand required for my system we decided long term its cheaper for us to just stick with a calcium reactor. At first we were going to just use our old one with a new regulator but instead we agreed it would be better long term to get a new one vs replacing the parts needed to run this one correctly. During the transition I lost quite a few sps corals due to a drastic alk swing while attempting to fine tuning the reactor but like all things in this hobby it was a learning experience... a costly one but an experience none the less.I recently decided to completely redo my aquascape as i waited a few days to make sure the reactor was working as intended.
We could of gone with a small reactor but due to how much we plan on stocking our current tanks not to mention chances of upgrading the upstairs tank in a few years we wanted to rest easy knowing the Geo 818 reactor could handle any job we give it.
Heres the current location of the reactor.... (starting to run out of space) Personally I like being able to see my equipment outside of the sump so the only viable option currently to put the reactor was on one of the stepping stools.
I'm very pleased with how my aquascape turned out I decided to ditch my 3 island look and go with the conventional one piece rockwork with lots of caves to accommodate more room for future corals. Heres a FTS shot will try to get a beetter one in a week or so.
