well i will tell you something you all are giving much more feed back then the other forum im on! (even though there are helpful people there)
ok in the future im upgrading to a 220 or 210 gal DT and i would like some light options " mostly metal halide options"

so far im going to use x8 T5's @ 36" and 39 watts a piece they will be overrun with icecap balasts (on both sides) x2 420 nm and x2 460nm
so i think im set there but
i was thinking using x3 250 watt single ended Phoenix 14k bulbs
now will this be enough to keep sps along with my other types of coral ive never done sps yet but want to
or should i go with x3 400 watt MH
also was thinking about this type
http://www.marinedepot.com/IceCap_250_400_HQI_All_Aluminum_Pendant_Double_Ended_Metal_Halide_Pendants-IceCap-IC3711-FILTFIMHPDDE-vi.html

being that ive never delt with single ended and was worried about them shatering in my tank if they were hit or cold water splashed on them
this way at least they would be protected in this housing
and i could still mount them on my light rail

ps if you all want to show me your DIY light rails im all 4 it! just be sure to put down your specs please:lol2:

I run 400 watt digital ballasts with Lumenarc III full size reflectors on my 300. My tank is 30" deep so I didn't want 250s. I am getting about 100 PAR on the bottom, with year old bulbs. I keep Acans and Chalices, as well as some other lower light corals down at the sand bed and my SPS higher up.

even though either tank i chose will be 210 or 220 they are both pretty high 29" and 30" so im sure 400 watt MH's will be best
