2200 l Build in Stockholm

Stockholm

New member
Hi out there,

Guess it's about time I share my new build with your all.
I have been in the hobby for 3 years' time now with a 575 Liter xPS dominated ZEOvit tank. This summer we bought our first house just a few km south of Stockholm, the house had a big garage 27m^2 that now is my home office and aquarium room.

In the good old days there where a large oil-pan that stood on a pretty large concrete fundament 4*1,1 meter and about 15cm above the rest of the floor. As it is a garage there is also drain in the floor ad of course a sink. In other words just perfect for a new build"¦.

Good, endless possibilities clearly, if budget where unlimited which it's not when you purchase your first house.

I wanted the biggest possible system of course for a limited budget, you really can't just change DT's while you're going but the price difference for a 720 l to a 900 or even bigger where just crazy consider liter/SEK spend.

The decision where made and a 720 liter where ordered, at the same time a decision where made to have 2 DT, where one would be a DT and a DSB, the small DT where ordered 480 l.

Filtration filtration filtration, I have never had a large sump, the old where 120 l, way too small for anything, the small DT is 50 cm deep, the stand is 110 cm, so not a lot of thinking, I ordered an extra 480 liter for Sump.

That left me with 2 DT, the 720 and 480, a sump on 480 and of course my old 575 l that now is my main sump under the main DT. All aquariums in one system, I will later go through the entire build, the connection between is (big DT) "“ (Sump) "“ (Main Sump) "“ (big DT), the small DT is in a loop with the main sump.

If you ever ye a Passat you now know it "easely" holds 2*480 liter tanks...
Both have overflow chambers.

Plumming part 1

Plumming part 1

Plumming part 1, about time to conect the system.

This is how I used the 40 mm pipes, much more plumming to be done.

OK, hard to explain but I wanted to have a lot of Living stones, a good place to have my Skimmer and other reactors to stand. At the same time I have a read a lot about "œold tank syndrome" you can have if you have too many living stones. My conclusion is that a lot living stones is of course great but if they stand to close and you get dead zones in the tank you have a problem.

My solution here to build a piping system as you can see on the pictures, drilling a lot of small holes and lay it on the bottom of the tank mount a 3000 liter Tunze pump to circulate the water the pump is placed on the pipe coming up in the middle, around 5 cm from the surface so I can take it out for maintenance when needed, after that a layer of living stone, around 15 cm all over the pipes.
On top of the pipes I mounted 4 plastic boxes as it shows on the pictures, and on top another layer of living stones, and last skimmer, Ca reactor and a Tunze stream pump 12000 liter to give circulation.

Less like a garage.

Häftigt! :)

How do you get access to the sump in the back?

Are you on saltvattensguiden.se?

Tack!

The back aquarium is sourposed to be no-service, but if neded I can "easely" hmm, take all equipment out to maitinance. It will be hel, just to empty the skimmer is anoying at the moment, that should be easier once I have rearraged ALL cables ad removed the T5 I have to LED, today I have 43 powerLED (3w) from Winger over the tank, 14 more and I expect it to be enough for anemons ect.

Have just been a trip at Triton and Akvarieleasing today and picked up a little fishes :)
1 * Ctenochaetus tominiensis
1 * Zebrasoma scopas
6 * Amphiprion ocellaris (black) Darwini T.R.

And no Bjarne I'm not at saltvandsguiden, but maybee I should make a profile there as I ave lived here in Stockholm for 9 years now, I'm from Denmark and I use http://saltvandssiden.akvariefisk.dk/ as my main forum, nick there is >>Stockholm Saltvand<<

And for you Bjarne, a 2 week old picture of the tankfurniture almost finished.

BR Thomas
