2300G Cylinder - Preview

Yes. Just working through that now... the reef structure is 1 1/2" pvc pipe. I will cut 2" pvc in half with 4 or 5 pairs of holes along each cut so that i can "stitch" it together with cable ties. I will then use dry rock and expanding foam to cover the 2" pipe, and then place them round the existing pipe. I will do similar for the edge of the fibreglass grating, except I will use sheet pvc.

Thanks for the warning. I have my full tang quotient, minus 1 at the moment. The only other tang I had planned to introduce is an Archilles, right at the end. Your story gives makes me pause... does anybody else have any thoughts?

I too had a similar experience with a powder blue, very mean fish, he dominated the tank and killed all new fish except a large Imperator, then he backed off. Achilles are Ich magnets

+1 on powder blue
I have a big one and it killed all of acanthurus species
My Achilles and every clown tang on my friends tank before I got him
With that said I still love it

I have 8 tangs in a 500 gal.The PBT is a bastard fish but he has not killed any other tangs. He does harass the crap out of my 2 hippo tangs. They also nip at each other,so that's another problem but they are alive.Your tank is huge in comparison.I still think every fish is different so you might have one be a killer while another isn't so bad.You have the space to keep several tangs with minimal aggression.I find most fish become more aggressive during feeding time then they calm down afterwards. There is only so much territory that one fish can claim. If you want a PBT buy a small one.Smaller fish will be easier to adapt and more likely to be less aggressive.

if i might give a "Tang" warning, first i love, love, love the ones you have so far. had the same mix. then i added a Powder Blue, worst mistake ever and was one of the reasons i got out of the hobby. meanest little SOB, killed every other tang. now i know that my tank is not as big as yours, it's only a 500 gallon, so your results might be different. but if you asked me, I'd never have one again....... the problem was i didn't do enough research on them or i would have known :(

i had a regal, yellow and a powder blue all in a 120 gallon(along with other various fish) and they all got along just fine ... i got rid of mine because they started nipping at my zoas causing them to close up and die off ... but i do have to say without a doubt that the powder blue is one of my favorites

I have a PBT in my 400 along with yellow's, Hippo's, a Naso and Sailfin's and all get along well. I did add him last though and he is the smallest. I tried to add a beautiful large Red Sea Sailfin but the PBT would not tolerate it.

My PBT is a great citizen and never bothers another fish. My Red Sea Sailfin had to come out as it was evil to almost every fish in the tank.

I never had a problem with my PBT. He was a model citizen, enjoyed playing with the hippos, and generally very good natured. I added fish after adding him, and there was never any issue. Try feeding high quality food!

Out of curiousity...I can understand the pvc shelf and the rock sitting on the upper tier but I don't understand the rock sitting on the lower shelf....the perimeter rock is also fine but what was the concept for the first shelf rock? Did you do that just for the fish?

Man thats a long read, and one hell of an impresive build, from house to tank just amazing. Just wanted to ask what kind of evapouration are you getting?

Diablo, Do you have any new updates on your tank?

Even a quick picture of how it currently looks would be nice :)
