Holy cow! Just read this thread from start to now! Simply amazing. Im so jealous...The house and tank look simply wonderful, I cant wait for more photos

I have been Subcribed to this thread for around 3 years and will be here till the end. The funny thing is when this started he said it would be up and going in about a year. I still get a little excited when I get an email saying this thread has a new post thinking it could be more pics of this truly incredible tank.

Thanks for keeping this thread going :)

Hi, just thought I'd share a little bit of a teaser... it is likey to be about a year before I am fully in action.
This puppy is 126" (10.5') across and 48" (4') high and is made from 1.5" acrylic. I calculate that it will hold around 2300G.

Its now in a shipping container, soon to be on its way between the UK and Australia.

This will be one of the centerpieces of a new house and should look something like:

The floorplan looks like:

Site work commences in October; hope to have foundations poured in November, and the whole shebang done by Sep 09.

""""""""""""""" Just a teaser is right, I log into rc most of the time just to see if there is updates on this tank. Shows how lame I am, but geeze man!! If you only knew how depressing it is not to see any updates in months. Hope all is well

Sorry for the long time between updates. Have been waiting for the aquarium to cycle and become presentable. I have not even finished the aquascaping. I should have my other 2 structures completed tommorow, as well as tilting the main reef flat left to right so that there is a better view across the flat. About 1/3 of the sand is in. May have to get some larger grain size to help stabilize (currently aragamax select and aragamax sugar sized)

I will post some photos shortly, but in the mean time, here is a quick and dirty iPhone video of the tank.

Current fish occupents are:
1 sailfin tang
1 purple tang
1 lipstick (naso) tang
1 striped bristletooth (Ctenoncaetus striatus)
5 yellow tangs
1 lawnmower blenny
1 bicolor blenny
1 juvenile emperor angel
1 copperbanded butterfly
2 orchid dottybacks

And in quarentine:
1 tiger blenny (Ecsenius tigris)
1 golden angel
1 tiger rockopper (Cirripectes stigmaticus)

And for those interested in the house, the last item in the build is the pizza oven. Almost complete now...

Thanks for the update. It looks like everything is coming along nicely. The tank will be absolutely stunning when all is said and done.

Oh, we'll also be expecting a FPS (Full Pizza Shot) when that oven is complete and gets put to use.

LOL +1 , The tank and house look great ! Thanks for the update

+3 on the update, thanks!!!

the fish look so small...... love the water motion you can see in the video. do you plan to cover up the PVC? if so, how?

if i might give a "Tang" warning, first i love, love, love the ones you have so far. had the same mix. then i added a Powder Blue, worst mistake ever and was one of the reasons i got out of the hobby. meanest little SOB, killed every other tang. now i know that my tank is not as big as yours, it's only a 500 gallon, so your results might be different. but if you asked me, I'd never have one again....... the problem was i didn't do enough research on them or i would have known :(

like a lot of others, i have been following this from the beginning and just love to see it all coming together. i can't wait to see large coral colonies and mature fish. i hope you continue to keep this thread updated. if you get time please also up date all your pics of your mechanical and filtration components. how is it going with your water collection system?

Yes. Just working through that now... the reef structure is 1 1/2" pvc pipe. I will cut 2" pvc in half with 4 or 5 pairs of holes along each cut so that i can "stitch" it together with cable ties. I will then use dry rock and expanding foam to cover the 2" pipe, and then place them round the existing pipe. I will do similar for the edge of the fibreglass grating, except I will use sheet pvc.

Thanks for the warning. I have my full tang quotient, minus 1 at the moment. The only other tang I had planned to introduce is an Archilles, right at the end. Your story gives makes me pause... does anybody else have any thoughts?
