240+g tank project

Here are some pics of my new tank George Weber (Geo) built for me. The inside dimensions are 48"X49.5"X24" and the external overflow box is 31"X6"X15". The tank sides are made out of 3/4" cell-cast acrylic, and the top and bottom is 1/2" cell cast acrylic. I need to take some pictures of the detail work George put into this tank. The corners and top edges are all rounded over and polished.
The 1" hole in each top corner will be for me Oceans Motion 4-way closed loop, and the (3) 1" holes in the back are for the return.
Two of the 2" holes in the overflow box are drains, and the other is going to be a feed for the closed loop.
This tank is going to take the place of my current 120g in wall.

Geo built this tank for me as a personal favor and wants everyone to know he is not interested in building tanks for people;)

Very nice, can't wait to see pics of it when it is in the wall, very nice. Question is, what you going to do with the 120 thats in the wall? If you are selling it let me know :)

I am going to have to tag along... Looking forward to seeing this thread... Love the choice of the external overflow, really nice.

Thanks you... Whoops, I see a typo. It's supposed to say the sides are 3/4" cell cast acrylic and the top and bottom are 1/2" cell cast acrylic.

I can't wait to get it running too, but I'm dreading tearing the 120 down. I have to decide what I'm going to do for lights still. I'm either going to do 4-400w SE halides or 4-250w HQI's. I'm leaning towards the 250w hqi's I think.

Tank Looks Great man...looking forward to seeing it up and running....if you need a hand let me know.. as usual looks like George did a great job

That eurobracing is sweet. No crossbraces to mess with. Nice tank!!!

Go with the 4 x 250W DE's. Get ReefOptix III pendants and the Phoenix bulbs. If you want to come down to Cincy sometime, you can see mine in action...

I'm getting an XDE 15K next week to compare versus the Phoenix, but so far the Phoenix is my favorite bulb.

Nice tank but I have 1 question. Why are you going with 1" on the OM 4 Way on a tank that big?IMO it is hard to beat the OM 4 Way using 1 1/2" .It is your tank and you can do with it as you wish.I was just wondering.I really like the external overflow and the polished edges.

Looks great Chris. I look forward to seeing it all set up. I'm sure it will be awesome! Now you get to have fun stocking again. ;)
