240+g tank project

Here is a picture of the red millepora that is on the lower left of the tank picture. I bought the millepora from Phishy Business a couple months or so ago.

I think Steve's tank is my favorite reef tank, and the valley seemed like a good idea to show the depth. I just wanted a tank that would allow the corals to grow large without crowding each other. I also thought it was important to leave a lot of room for the corals to grow in height.
Thanks for the compliments, and I will try to post some pictures of the equipment room this weekend.

upkeep???

upkeep???

first of all AWSOME tank!!!!! I am new to the hobby and am trying to get as much info as possible...I have been reading up on the different bottoms and see you did a shallow bed of sand...Here goes probably a stupid question :):) Do you treat this like the deep sand bed and not disturb it?? Or do you clean it and how if so...

Again...awsome tank and I can only hope mine would look that good one day...

I went over to Chris's today to pick up my CA Reactor (Thank Geo)... I saw this tank in person and it is VERY NICE... I love the depth, I can't wait until I get my 92x48 complete :)

Thank you very much. I siphon out the detritus in the sand bed when I do my water changes, which is 50g every two weeks. It also help's having a blue cheek goby to keep the sand bed clean, and I'm looking for a 2nd to add to the tank.

I saw a flame in there a few pages back, i heard horror stories of them. Has it picked at your sps?

At first it did, but after a week or so it stopped picking at the corals and started eating fish food.

Wow this is a fish I have wanted and that sounds promising. How long have you had it?

I've had it about 6 months or so. Lincutis actually gave me the flame angel and a sailfin tang both.

Jumping aboard for updates....the tank I told you about in my PM will be 8' long, 6' wide and 3' tall with an open rock structure such as yours. A lot of people woun't want to mess with the 36" height but as you stated earlier, having the room for upward growth will be worth it IMO...Looking forward to updates!

96x72x36... That is alittle over 1k water vol in the main tank... That is Awesome... When are you having this built ?? I take it, it will be made from acrylic, or are you going with glass... Having it built on-site ?? Are you going to be doing a threat about the build ?? Please more info :)
