Where has this thread been hiding:eek2: Brian I'm so sorry, if there's anything I can do (I know it's a little late:rolleyes: ) lmk

Lol, Thanks Francis...

I may be leaning toward an acrylic aquarium.. I have options of 1/2" and 3/4" The price in considerable different for the two.

Is 1/2" too thin? Does anyone have any experience with acrylic tanks?

Thanks!

I am leaning more and more towards this acrylic tank.

Yes I would be getting it with an external overflow. The way they make it I could get it down the basement stairs. (not the bilco doors) I figure it's lighter, so it should be easier to get down there.

The overflow is going to be: 40"x4"x10" (l x w x h)

Thanks Ralph, That tank is too long though.. I need to keep the same dimensions that I have now... Thanks for the heads up!

I have been talking to Tenecor about the tank.

Brian, PAUL'S TANK is acrylic, and so was Malcolm's tank. One thing about acrylic I don't like is the scratch resistance. We polished his tank before we converted it to a reef tank, what a PITA that was! Buffing and polishing by hand nonetheless, you can't really use a machine to get rid of scratches on an acrylic tank, not recommended anyways. So, we had to do it one grit level at a time, crosswise, then up and down against the abrasion until the final buff. That's one good thing about the acrylic, you can buff out the scratches.

Nowadays, they have an option for a scratch resistant surface on the acrylic. Make sure you definitely add that as an option, unless they're all doing it now.

for that much money i would get a new one. ralph i can see that in ur house soon ( sell the trailer ) :)
Nagel's tank is also acrylic.
