240 Gallon Cube Tank Photo Diary

I'll mostly be cleaning this by hand with an acrylic safe pad.
Found out last night that the jacuzzi style bulkheads I ordered came in too short. The 1" acrylic is too thick and the don't make this particular style in the longer version.
Tank will be completed on Saturday. I'll have it home and on the stand Saturday evening. I'll post more pics then.

Tank is done and setting on the stand in my garage. I'm going to start working on the plumbing and the epoxy sand bed right away. I'm leaving the protective film on until its actually sitting in its final place.
I'll take some more pics from above tomorrow showing the bulkheads and overflow box.
Doors for the stand will be done Monday. I should have them installed by Wednesday.

I'm sure you have read about the epoxy sand beds on the forums and some of the "mistakes" people have made. I myself just found them a few days ago and stumbled across a thread of a guy who broke his 200-ish making his epoxy bed. just making sure you knew what not to do 'cause your tank is awesome.

That was me:rolleyes: Yes please be careful I lost my 240g.

Thanks for the compliments. I built the stand myself and the doors should be completed today. I hope to have them installed by the middle of the week.
I am currently working on plumbing the closed loops and sump.
Yes, I have read and re-read all the posts on the faux sand beds and took heart to HDTVguy's problem. My tank is 1" acrylic so I shouldn't have any problem like his. But, the more I think about an bottom completely covered in corraline, the less I like the idea. I'm probably going to go ahead and do the faux sand bed, but may end up putting some loose sand over the bottom if it gets ugly.
Thanks again for the compliments. I'll be taking the paper off near the end of the week and will post pics of the finished product then.

The tank is home! The back has been painted black to match the overflow and I have started the closed loop plumbing.
I should have the doors for the stand this afternoon, but they won't be installed until the weekend.
I'm leaving the paper film on until its actually sitting in place so I'm less likely to scratch it.
This thing is heavy! I think it is close to 270 pounds! I think the tank and stand alone are over 500 pounds empty. I get a hernia sliding it around.
Fortunately, it fit perfectly on the stand.
