A school of 15 Chromis was added to QT yesterday along with a Swallowtail Angel(Genicanthus melanospilos), they won't be seeing the tank for two months. Next round will hopefully be the Orange Shoulder and another 10 Chromis, I will be on the look out for a male Swallowtail also. Looks like I'll be setting up one more QT tank as well.
Decided not to do the Pyramids as planned, I've stared at them at the LFS long enough to know that they just don't appeal to me anymore, and I'm still undecided on the Anthias. Bartlett's maybe?

Awesome so far! My wife has already given me the thumbs up for a large in wall in the future. Can't wait!

For now though, I do have some questions. The tank, rock, sand and other equipment are for the most part one time expenses. Granted, you have your ongoing expenses such as bulbs, salt and more.

My big concern is the electrical. Any idea on what the monthly cost is to keep things going?

This system costs me about $40 a month in electricity being on a "Time of Use" plan, running the lights during off peak time.

Good luck when you get going! She is definitely a keeper...remember to plan, plan and plan some more.

Are you a carpenter by trade? You've done a mighty impressive job.

I did some custom cabinetry work years ago, however a good friend of mine(ex-construction super) was very instrumental throughout the entire build. I had a solid design but his experience was invaluable.
Thanks for stopping by:)

I also added a brand new C02 removal chamber by Spectrapure as I've tested as much as 16ppm of C02 going into my ro/di unit.

Shane,
I just went through this whole thread. I think you were referring to this thread when me and my bro were talking to you at PetsInc about sump setup a couple of weeks ago.
I guess better late than never. Thanks for this service. This is definitely how you do a setup.

Well a bit of a set back...lost the Goldrim to the fact that ick broke into the system some how. All the fish were moved to a 40g QT for treatment and to allow the display to sit fallow for 8 weeks and it may have been too much for him. The firefish jumped through the eggcrate so I lost it as well.
I took the opportunity to remove all the rock to rid the system of the red turf that had covered much surface area of the rock and build structures using acrylic rod and epoxy as I originally planned. I will be finishing these over the weekend and will soak them in an ro/vingegar solution for a couple hours to rid the rock of any phosphates and dead particulate, then soak in pure ro for a day before returning it to the DT.
Hopefully having all the established sand and water still in the system will help recolonize the rock for a short cycle...we shall see.
I'll post pics of the new aquascape when complete!
