Finally got some pics of the new sump.

Notice that one baffle is Starphire!:D

It is from the brace on my tank that I broke.

Now I can tell people I have a "Starphire" sump.

My Ranco shows high by one degree. But 83 (actually 82) is the highest it has gotten yet, despite the fact that it was 25 degrees (77 F) in the house for the last couple of days.

It is nice not to have to constantly watch the temp of the house! Make sure the air is on; make sure the air is off because it is cool outside, but make sure the windows are open; etc..............

That is quite a set up. Thanks for sharing. You don't use a refugium at all?

My fuge will be a frag grow out area.;) I still need a ROIII pendant to use my old halide bulbs in and I am up and running.

I use to have a fuge but since going to bare bottom and wetter skimming I couldn't grow anything in it. Not enough nutrients I guess.

Sump looks great! Those pics don't do justice for conveying just how big the sump really is though.

Definitely cleaned everything up in there quite a bit!

Looking forward to seeing those frags growing! ( My tank is nearing completion; I need to stock it with something! )

Later,
Tyler

With wet skimming like that you dont need to do water changes? Just skim out 3 gallons a day and watch the salinity.

I don't have to do water changes. In the last two years I have never noticed the tank perk up after a water change, so I guess that is good.

I still do about 45 gallons every two weeks. I still have to watch the salinity though. For best performance I have to clean the skimmer every 3 days, often I don't, but I should.
