250w MH hood options

I am looking at the MH hood options available to me- must be plug and play easy as I am not a DIY.

Is there no 250w DE hood available with external ballasts?

The only DE I see is the PFO Acrolight which lists internal ballasts- isn't this thing heavy to be lifting on and off?

Are the PFO Premium Halide hoods available with a DE bulb?

In short I would like 2 250w DE bulbs, actinic supplementation, and external electronic ballasts in a ready made hood that is not too heavy for me to maneuver easily.

I can only find these options in the Maristar which is pricey even for me- and looks heavy. I'm a lady who has difficulty moving my 8 bulb T-5 Tek-Light on and off (which has a shipping weight of 40 lbs.), and the Maristar looks similar (shipping weight 75 lbs.).

Suggestions?

Hi Toni,

The Acrolight now has all external ballast, we need to update our website. So if you want DE, the acrolight would be your best choice for PFO product. I would look at the Sunlight Maristart too though. It's one of the most popular DE hoods.

Both PFO and Sunlight are USA build and high quality. We have Ocean Light DE fixtures available now as well, these are imports, not the same quality as PFO and Sunlight, but good quality for less money. So that would be an option.

On the weight, the acrolight and the maristart are pretty light, at least the hood is. The weight you see online is just for shipping rates to figure properly. The ballast are heavy, a dual DE ballast is about 45 pounds, so the ballast are heavy to lug around. The hood is probably less then 20lbs to hang though.

thanks

Guess the price gets updated as well?? :eek2:
Acrolight, 250w DE, HQI ballast, 2 55w compact actinics, double fans. Any MH bulb upgrades?

The Maristar is sitting at $1025.
Yikes.
