27 clowns in the same tank 27 months~Thread of the Month

Today is the clowns 7th birthday :celeb1::beer::celeb2:

Good news and bad news. Good news is there are still 13 clowns, so if it was fighting, lack of food or terrible water conditions that made the others disappear, at least no more are dispersing.

Bad news, with the additional salinity extremes back in March, the anemones are whiter than in the March pictures and as of today, they have not recovered. They look small and are of the "rare" :headwalls: fluorescent hot pink and bright green colors. I have not been spot feeding them (in case anyone wants to know).

Thanks for the interest.
so sorry to hear about the nems. I hope they still recover. do you plan on just leaving them alone and see if they recover by themselves or you plan on feeding them again to see if it helps on their recovery?

Hi Folks,
My fish are eight years old today. The tank is looking great. Here is a sunset pic (sorry for the camera phone quality):

Since I've been feeding regularly, the fighting is no longer an issue. In fact, the dominant pair is laying eggs and they share their anemone at night with their siblings. I just pulled a tile of eggs into a baby tank and I hope to get a hatch tonight.

I count at least 12 clownfishes in the tank and they are looking big. Happy birthday to them. Now, if I get a good hatch, do I divide the tank and try to introduce the babies into the display tank? Or maybe, re-home the 12 and start new? Or maybe stick with my original plan and let attrition be the rule?

I've been dosing vodka and the tank has never looked so clear. It really has the fish swimming in air look. I am so pleased with the carbon dosing, I ordered bio-pellets. Hopefully, I get get them to toss around in either an Eheim 2213 cannister or maybe adapt an old calcium reactor to work.

I finally got some LED's to replace the two VHO's and two of the halides. Also got a short blue strip for moonlights that coincide with actual moon cycle.

Very nice. I am glad you got the tank back in top shape again. Very beautiful clown fish.
Many people like the all BTA tank you had before but to me diversity in the reef tank is a lot more natural and healthy. I really love your tank as it is now.

This tank really shows that multiple clowns can be done, but not without issues and have to be dry diligent. Thank you for sharing and great to hear updates!
