270 Gallon Rimless Peninsula Tank Miracles with fish room

Also is that a check valve? If so did you check to make sure it doesn't have a metal spring in it?

Yes this is an all plastic boiler drain and also the check valve is a flapper type it had pvc with a rubber swing. I bought a anti vibration pad for under the pump works well just have some vibration from the plumbing lines. Also there is a small peace of flex hose from sump to pump just it's glued inside the fittings.

I also took out the supper dart impellers because the flow was over powering it would actually push the water over the rim of the glass so I am running just regular dart impellers maybe ill save on electric

What type of flooring is that? Hardwood? Laminate?

Any updates from the manufacturer about the glass?
Great looking tank!

Hey thanks! It is from Home Depot allure ultra red mahogany. It is an all vinyl water proof click together system. Glad I did it because no matter how hard I try not to spill water on the floor I'm always making a mess.

As of now no updates from the manufacture the seams are less noticeable now that they have settled I don't even notice or look at them anymore it is what it is.

Believe it or not, they best way to save on power with a Reeflo is to gate it down after the pump. Swapping the impeller won't really save on any energy.

As for the noise, my Dart Gold is damn near silent. I can't help but wonder if your noise is harmonic vibration/noise due to the rigid plumbing on the inlet side and the flow diverter on the pumps outlet adding additional weight to the pump which then transfers onto your hardwood floor and or through your plubing. A short length of flex PVC in the inlet side might help a bit. Also, I see you have foam under the pump but is there any rubber under the pump? I see something black under there but can't tell. Mine sits on a 3/4" rubber mat but it's also concrete slab under that. On the other hand, noise is a relatively subjective thing and given that your pumps are on a hardwood floor which will reflect some of the noise and your stand is open at the moment, you are bound to hear more noise than if your stand were closed up and floors carpeted. I also went to great lengths to sound proof my system but even with the doors open below the tank and my tile flooring the pump noise from my Hammerhead Gold and Dart Gold is negligible. Especially compared to what it was before I switched to Reeflo pumps.

Just a thought if it's not too late. You might really want to consider a pond liner below your tank to protect your floors unless you already took that into consideration. You could lay it down and attach it along the horizontal framing around the base of your tank stand. God forbid you have a leak or need to work on your pumps, the water would be contained and your flooring would be protected. I've done the same thing and it's come in handy!

That said, your tank and plumbing is looking great! Love your attention to detail! Really like your fish room setup! I wish I could have laid mine out like that but had plenty of constraints when it came to where my equipment would go.

Nice build so far. Sorry bout the seams. It's def a catch 22 choosing between pressing for replacement vs leaving it alone and not having to move/ship it again.

Whats the dimension of the external overflow box and the size of the weir? I love that pensinsula tank really clean look.

hey thanks for the tips and advice, I do have the pumps on 1/8 rubber then a soft foam matt then rubber again. The only reason I did not use spa flex on the inlet is because the oceans and motions are allot of weight they actually cause the pump to topple over that's why I ended up with rigid piping just to help hold the pumps up. I think you nailed it on why I am getting so much noise its just all the pressure on the plastic housing and yes the stand is open and the floor is vinyl on concrete.

Okay so here are some updated pictures and news. I finally decided how I was going to finish the glass to the dry wall. Since I had to spackle over my freshly painted expensive epoxy paint I decided I wanted to change the color of the whole room to gray incase I end up getting an ATI fixture (silver) it would look better in a gray room then tan. I also got around to setting up my quarantine tank and also painted my desk/refuge countertop. please excuse the mess in the pictures its a work in progress. I also decided to drain the freshwater circulating in the tank because it started smelling like a moldy wet basement I thought premium macro dry rock was pretty much cured any other reason fresh water would smell like this I mean I do have allot of flow? I'm not even going to fill it in till all my sanding and painting and plumbing is done.

hey can anyone recommend a good magnet to clean the glass that can be taken in and out and be sure not to scratch the tank. I'm hesitant to use the brand mag-float? just don't want scratches

you can use any float, just buy magic eraser and cut it to fit and then slice so it's thin. it is perfect for acrylic tanks!
