270 Gallon Rimless Peninsula Tank Miracles with fish room

Future plans are to find two stand up media reactors for carbon and gfo that I can plumb in the manifold and I am in the process of saving for an ati Powermodule so I can have the look of a single sleek light suspended from the ceiling. And I also need to buy a bigger skimmer that is the one from my 75 but is pulling out gunk and my nitrates are .02 so not to bad. I evaporate around 5 gallons a day kinda crazy but to be expected that's why I put vent fans in!

I can build nice stuff but one day I hope to be as good as half you guys out there with the proper chemistry and ability to grow corals and keep them healthy. I am getting better I think and am constantly reading.

Everything looks awesome!!!!! Glad to see you stuck it out with the closed loop set up. I'm getting ready to do the plumbing on my cl and was wondering why you chose to put the ball valves up by the tank instead of by the om4? I'm trying to decide that location now and was wondering if one location was better than the other.

Okay the reason I put the ball valves by the tank is because If there's ever a leak in the line going to the oceans motion I wouldn't lose all the tank water plus there's more strength and less strain on the pipe fittings when your turning a valve mounted to a piece of 3/4 glass lol. and if I ever want to do away with the closed loop all I got to do is close the valve. If I ever need to drain the oceans motions all I got to do is remove the plug in the pump and I use a small shop vac to drain the lines. did you hear how loud the super dart pumps are I'm waiting to see how your dolphin pumps are. I will prob eventually switch them over to dolphin pumps since there seals are better from what I read.

Is this a garage that you turned into a dream lab? Lol
This was actually the downstairs of a bi-level house the fish room/lab was supposed to be the future bed room for our second child if we have one but the fish come first lol. That was a bed room even had a closet and new rugs ripped it all out. i just bought this house last memorial day! I knew what type of setup I wanted before I even went house shopping so it was all planned out before closeing.

Haha I'm in the same boat. We are planning to move and I already told my wife the new house is chosen on how well the tank will fit

Excellent point on valve location. I will give that some thought!!!! The first time I watched the video the sound wasn't on but I just went back and watched it again. Wow those are noisy. I'm sure the sound will be lessened once you put cabinetry around the stand . You could probably get some sound proof foam and put that up too. I should have my dolphins up in and running in a few weeks. I'll keep you posted.

Yea I used the valves from bulk reef supply the cepex ones. I have no complaint with those valves they move with ease and IMO valves are the most important thing in a closed loop knowing that 300 gallons can come rushing out of one those bulk heads is scary but I used all schedule 80 bulk heads so not to worried no leaks or salt creep yet knock on wood.

Wow that looks awesome! What are you going to do for lighting again? And can you lower the water level if you wanted to?

Agreed on the valves. I ordered all of my valves and bulkheads thru my tank builder. He recommends Hayward for all of his tanks. I couldnt believe how big the bulkheads were when I took them out.

I am saving for an ati power moudule. I wanted to get one sleek light fixture instead of trying to peace together led lights and have wires hanging everywhere from the ceiling. The water level doesn't really go much lower if I want it lower I really compromise flow threw my sump reason being the overflow weir teeth restrict the water but if I turn up my flow anymore my sand piles up. The bad thing about such a high water level is can't really ever do a wave action and if you look my closed loop is dialed down so much because the water will push right over the rim. Do you see a problem with running water thAt high I do have a emergency full siphon pipe on standby and my trickle stand pipe only flows minimal water and that gate valve is full open.

Which ATI fixture are you looking into? The hybrid LED and T5 fixture or the all LED fixture. I am currently building a 180 and I plan on using a T5 and LED hybrid lighting system.

I am also looking at the t5/led. i just looked at ati website they do make a led fixture now interesting research time!! my only gripe is why can't they make a fixture in black i would even pay extra!!
