Hey Ed did you feel the earthquake?

Yes, felt it a little but not too bad where I'm as we are way down South of China...

alot of peoples are still trap, what a big disaster?

Yes, it's so sad...just last week I organized a Charity event to collect $$ for those victims in Myammar as we have 1 sister property there and many of our staff houses are affected. NO - will not pass the $$ collected to the Gov but directly to our sister property there so that they can distribute the funds in accordance to the needy...

And now this??? We have a property in Chengdu (which is in Sichuan Provience where the quake hits) and Xian (next to Sichuan Provience) which felt the worst of the quake but thank god not much damage (except for some cosmetic) and all the staff and building structure are all fine.... !! The quacks can be felt throughout China ... the gov is moving as fast as they can to help those people. Good thing about this country is they can mobilizer thousand of solders/ aid workers really fast and they are all very well equip for nature disaster as they have regular flooding, etc in some of the more rural areas in China...

Good news is Panda bears is safe... (they have the largest Panda research center there in Sichuan provience) :D

WATER STORAGE & WATER CHANGE….…

WATER STORAGE & WATER CHANGE….…

14 May, 2008 (Wednesday)

Large tanks required large water storage but living in an apartment and without a fish room as support this can be more challenging… with that, I decided to make my very own water storage area where RO water can be stored and used to be mix for my SW…

Each water container can store up to 200L each so should be good for a 20% WC!!

Don’t mind the mess…..

I installed a float connected to my RO unit power in my RO water storage container so that it will cut off my RO unit once it’s full…. :D

Meanwhile, last weekend tested my water for NH4 and NO2…Ammonia is nil but Nitrite is sky high…so look like 2nd part of the cycle is here and hopefully by this weekend, Nitrite will start to come down as my bio-system is establish :rolleye1:

CLEANING

CLEANING

And when the going get tough….:p

Algae-free scrape with adjustable blade:

So far, the cleaning crew seems to be doing a reasonable job keeping the diatom in place. My HA also seem to be under control now with my daily scrubbing routine and changing of filter socks :bounce1:

I used the Power Of Ninja Turtle to combat these nasty HA :uzi:

CleaningBrush.jpg

Great use of my son’s Ninja Turtle Toothbrush; inserted onto a 20mm PVC pipe… (that was the only unused/ new tooth brush I could find in time of emergency)

Look like I better start shopping for a replacement tooth brush for my son before he realize his fav toothbrush is now my official GHA scraper :lol2:

My Pohls Coral Snow (PCS) have yet to arrived (should arrived mid next week as all transportation lately in China is a little distorted with flight cancellation, etc due to the relief works which takes priority for the earthquake here in China) so will start dosing that once it’s here and should prevent my GHA from making a comeback…

ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!! Zeovit Users Only!!
I have stop using Chem-Marin STOP Hair Algae (only used it for 1 treatment) or any chemicals of such nature as was advise it might blunt the zeo-bacteria, destroying the multi-chain cultures, & ZEOvit….

Ed,
did the Chem-Marin STOP Hair Algae kill any HA in the one treatment you made?

Nice build, love the rock work stands, may give that a try with my Elos 120 on a smaller scale.....

gdm42001 - Honestly I can't say cause it's only 1 treatment. Tonight I will post some update pictures of my rocks with HA so you can see the progress in the 1 week.

I think it's a combination of that 1 treatment, daily scrubbing with a toothbrush, changing of socks daily (wash with hot water) and also switching off the lights that works... :D

SO, WHAT’S MY CLEANING CREW BEEN UP TO??

SO, WHAT’S MY CLEANING CREW BEEN UP TO??

17 May, 2008 (Saturday)

So far my Turbos team are doing a fantastic job in cleaning the diatoms in less than a week in the job :lolspin: (can hardly see any on my rocks and sand bed) but they seem to ignore the HA :hmm4:

You are doing an amazing job!

If the turbos didn't mess with the HA, what got it so clean?

BTW, at first I was thinking, "that is a lot of metal to look at." After the wood working I thought, "Holy moly! That is gorgeous!"

Peace,
Michael

Thanks Michael - No, my turbos simple refuse to touch them HA (unless they are already dying off - turning yellow) I used my toothbrush to brush the HA daily, daily change of filter socks and lights off for a few days that did the trick.... :D

Glad u like the woodwork !!

Cheers....

Thanks GSMguy - however i'm still waiting for my PCS to arrived and will continue to do daily brushing on those HA spots and changing socks daily for another week so that t ensure it will not return... :)

I was advise in the Zeovit Forums that it will.... but not sure if it will works if you are running non-zeovit system??

Worth a try then...alternatively get a clean -up crew as the PCS is more to keep my HA in-line. They did one hell of a job for me... :)
