Portable Water Mixing/Change Cart
1 - 20g Brute can - mixing tank
2 - 10g NSF Blue barrels - waste water containers
1- Iwaki WMD20 - mixing/transfer pump
I always have 20 plus gallons of RTU salt water with a circulation pump going and the submersible pumps do not last long. I thought an external would work better and have more longevity.
The MaxCap runs to the top Brute tank with a float valve and drains from the bottom to the Iwaki, then water is pumped back in at the top side. All holes in tanks have threaded/threaded 3/4" bulkheads. There is a ball valve drain to divert the flow to my tank connections to fill with fresh SW.
The two bottom tanks will hold 20g of waste water drained from the tank during the water change. It is plumbed on the bottom with a garden hose hookup to drain it into the yard when finished.
Right now, it is a two step process; First - drain old water from the the DT, Second - fill with fresh SW. My plan is to have this process done simultaneously - draining and filling, but have some flow rate issues to work out first. BUT, I may just use two large dosing pumps to achieve this, but it would take longer. We will see.
The purpose of this is to make water changes MUCH easier and cleaner and have less equipment in the fish/bedroom... I want a 10 minute water change and with making it easier and drier... the more likely I will keep up with my WC's!
