3 tangs in a 220

I am working on the stocking list for a 220 and wanted to pull from this forum's experience. I am hoping to keep a Sailfin, White tail bristletooth, and a yellow tang in a 220g 6 foot tank and wanted to know if any of this shows high potential of failure.

I have 6 tangs in my 180, the only battle I had was when I added my lieutenant tang tang. My orange shoulder was less than pleased with my decision to ad him. They are all getting along fine now after a week or so of an all out brawl.

6 tangs in a 180??

I run a black tang, tomani tang, and lavender tang in a 125g. Other than the black tang, they are smaller tang variety so thats why I chose them. You might have issues with the Yellow and the Sailfin because they are both Zebrasoma genus surgeonfish. If I were you, I would get a white freckled tang because they are awesome looking lol and my Lavender would FREAK out if I got one for MY tank.

I think your fish list is fine. Only one of the 3(sailfin) gets real big. I think the white tail bristletooth isnt very common. Might run into issues acquiring one.

I currently have 3 tangs in my 220, yellow, purple and blonde naso. All under 4" and they are fine. I am planning to add a dejardini sail fin and maybe a powder blue in the future.

I have 3 in my 187g, a blue, a hybrid yellow scopas and a powder brown, along with a foxface and they get along great. My tank is very open though. Once I find one for the right price I will be adding a black tang, this will be my final fish. I think you will be more than fine.

I have 4 in my 200 gal tank and they all get along.

2 Large yellows
1 Small Black
1 Large Achilles

They all tend to swim together in the same part of the tank but they have plenty of room if they wanted to venture out on their own.

Any possible issues with a foxface with tangs? I plan on getting one of those also

I had 9 in my 300g last time it was setup. No problems at all.

I had...

6" blond naso
5" clown tang
5" sailfin
4"yellow
6" regal
4" purple
5" achillies
3" scopas
8" vlamingi

Going for the same list this time but no vlamingi and adding a powder blue. Vlamingi was just too big and kept fragging corals begging for food.

only problem would be the size of the sailfin and they grow really fast.
Better have a very open scape for it as well as some large caves.

i have 3 in my 120 (yellow tang, hippo tang, sail fin tang) and they all got along great from day 1, granted they are all small (under 4") but with that said i think you should be more than ok in a 220

As for now I have a powder blue, yellow tang, purple tang,Tomini bristle tooth, blue line bristle tooth tang,a foxface And a regal tang.and they are super happy never fight,..they school together at times and are my favorite fish and yes they all are under four inches they are super friendly with each other powder blue was mad because I added the fox face for like 2 days but now they r best buddies.....it's all about personality if u ask me.....I'm moving soon and have a 125 long ready to move all my fish into exept for the regal tang and the blue lined bristle tooth tangs..they r getting a little bigger for my taste....ps..I saved the foxface from a sure dead at a local petco store where they don't know a thing about fish if u ask me...
