336 A.G.E. Peninsula Tank

Yep, it's dimensions are 21x13x24. I didn't think I could get my hands on one and I had already ordered my BM250. They delayed my order a few days because they were adding injection ports on the 250. I called to find out what exactly they were changing and found out that I could get a BM300. I had to make some last min. design changes to the sump to make sure that I could handle a skimmer that big.

I don't see a cone but there is a cylinder on the inside the body to direct the bubbles to the top and prevent incoming and exiting water from mixing to cause turbulence.

That's going to be one heck of a skimmer. Good to see you were able to upgrade at the last moment. Did you get the skimmer with the controllable pumps or just the regular pumps. Rumor has it that there are two version of the BM300. I wonder what the status of that is. Tank is looking really good keep the pics coming.

tbone it looks like an inverted cone that flairs but it could be an optical illusion. I never really noticed till you mentioned it. you can see it better in this picture.

Felix, The controllable skimmer is still in development and wont be available for quite some time from what I have been told. So mine will be the non controllable unit. They have the first shipment in and are currently testing to make sure there are no issues with the skimmers from switching from EU to US voltage. Sounds like I will get my skimmer in 2-4 weeks pending there are no issues.

:eek1: WOW that thing is a Monster. I love my 250, the cone does look like it flares out 3 pumps. What is the wing nut for on the inside does the diffuser plate remove for cleaning? Post pics of it when it arrives.

do you like the 250... is it on your 120??? do you think it is appropriately sized or overkill ... I was thinking about a 200 on my lightly stocked 240...

ITS HERE!!!

Yesterday was quite the emotional roller coaster. First hurdle was just getting the tank through the door. James and I had to take my door of the hinges so that we had the clearance to get the stand through the door. Next was just getting the tank in place which was a piece of cake, A Genie lift makes life so easy. Then James and I placed the sump under the stand, which couldn't be a tighter fit. luckily the legs are just slightly wider at the top of the stand then the bottom. The last hurdle was placing the savko bulkheads in the the tank. Well thank goodness the tank is made of PVC, not Glass because I would be in serious trouble. The 2in and 1.5in bulkheads drop in perfectly, but all of the 1in do not drop in. Tom C&C'ed the holes out at exactly 1 7/8in after he called them for demensions, the threads are maybe 1/16th of an inch bigger. It appears that Savko have started producing slightly large bulkheads, I have to call them tommorow. Their website states they need a 1 7/8in hole on one page they say they need a 1 7/8 to 2in hole  . luckily I can enlarge the holes slightly with a drum sanding bit.

Hey, there is one of the guys from AE delivering your tank. :) NIce tank!!! and nice sump! I bet you cant wait to get it running. How do you like the quality of the tank?

Edward, Yes there were 2 guys from AGE who showed up to deliver the tank.

Jflip- calm down there :)

Tbone- you have to see the sump in person to really get a sense of how big it is, the picture makes it seem small.

For the quality of the tank it is top notch except I am sad to say I won't be the first one to put a scratch in the tank. I discovered tonight that there are at least 2 already in the tank and one of them is 8in long and a 1/4in wide. I am not sure weather the scratches occurred while the tank was being moved to Houston or if it was done at the shop, but I can say for sure they didn't happen during delivery or after. I have to say I am really disappointed that the tank didn't come scratch free. Other then that Tom did an excellent job on the tank and I am proud to say this is my tank.

The holes will be a simple fix, so I am not to upset that the bulkheads didn't fit.

I will start plumbing this week but my GF is in town for spring break so I will have to finish next week and start filling then. I am going nuts. I have already started scoping out wood for the stand and canopy and I think I am going to be building it out of Red Oak. It should hold a nice dark stain to match my living room furniture.
