35gal Hex Powerhead placement

From who? A gyre is a wonderfully efficient way to get all the water moving. The "undertow" of the vortech that everyone loves is the beginning of a vertical gyre. In a hex tank a horizontal gyre will create laminar flow that circles around the tank. Laminar flow is much more natural for corals than the relatively narrow streams that even prop pumps deliver.

Also, set up correctly with a few pumps and a timer you could reverse the gyre every 20, 30, 45 minutes and further reduce any chance of dead spots. With the returns coming through the bottom of this tank they way they are it will be a lot easier to get the gyre going by pointing all the return jets in the right direction along with the powerheads.
