380w Aquatraders Halide/PC, Any Good?

I have never owned an Aquatrader fixture but, it seems they have a bad reputation here on RC bigtime!

Hmm, had T5's of theres for well over a year and they are doing great.

Is it just the halides that people have trouble with from them?

If I can find a used MH unit locally, I'd rather do that but it's proving tough to find right now...

well i just got the 150w HQI sunpod...its a 14k bulb but i plan on replacing it with the 14k phoenix bulb here when its time to replace this one. I upgraded it a couple weeks ago from the stock 64w pc lights the tank came with

Hmm, saw those on ebay and they were decently priced. Only thing I didn't like was that they don't have PC or T5 for the actinic.

Also I would like to have a 250w halide as the 29g is a lil tall.

Would a 150w work for a 29g?

i would think so but it depends on what you want to keep. I mean i have it over my 24g AP and its bright as hell. I keep tons of montiporas and other sps along with lps and now a clam. A 250 would be cool but for me it was a little over kill.

Mostly keeping softies, was told not to go for SPS with the leathers I have otherwise I'd like to.

Main reason I want a halide is for clams.

I think it comes down to what corals you want to keep and can you manage the water temp? Does your place have air conditioning? Do you want Crocea clams and sps corals?

well then i personally wouldnt think you would need any more than 150w HQI. I know the sunpod has a fairly good refelctor so that will make the light even better.

380w Metal Halide/PC Lighting Fixture

We run of there Metal Halide fixture over the 125 at the store. The bulbs are worthless but the fixture and the ballast seem to be working good. There pc fixtures are decent also but same problems with the bulbs.
