3g JBJ Picotope

It looks a little brighter in the picture than it actually is. In fact, I wish it was just a tad bit brighter. But that may just be the optics and how the light is spread.

What was wrong with the light fixture it came with? I am thinking about setting up one of these and was wondering if the light would work that it comes with?

The stock fixture is pretty weak. You may be able to keep some mushrooms and maybe some zoas with it. But that's all.

How about the filter? Also, at the beginning I don't plan on keeping corals, just some inverts and maybe one fish so what should I put in there for flow? Money is a factor. I was thinking of maybe the smallest maxi-jet. I think it's a 100B or something.

I personally would upgrade the filter to one of the Aquaclears if you're going to keep inverts or fish. As for flow an Aquaclear would help with that and you could maybe add something like a Koralia Nano.

what about a penguin bio filter. It's $10 cheaper and has the same 100gph rating as the AquaClear 20. Plus it takes up less space in the tank.

any thoughts on that?

Penguins are loud and less efficient. The Aquaclear filters are silent, and the pump is external and easily serviced. You could even try and get the filter from the Fluval Edge which is basically an AquaClear 10.

I don't normally name my fish. I think it's kind of silly. But I've decided to name this little guy "Fred":

And here's a short video I just took:

A lot has changed with this tank since my last update here. Unfortunately the YCG pictured above passed away. Then I added a Clown Goby, Citrinis... which eventually died as well. Neither showed any interest in the many different types of food I offered (frozen, pellet, flake, etc.). As a result I give up completely on clown gobies. But the other day I found a tiny True Percula clown at the LFS that I decided to get. Flame me if you want. But the clown will only be in the pico for a few weeks until I get a larger tank setup. To make a long story short, the CADLights 22g I had planned on setting up isn't going to happen. So I am now considering a 29g BioCube HQI. Here is the latest FTS of the pico:

And a video of the new clown, which is already eating NLS pellets: http://youtu.be/BO_fuOpPWYY?hd=1
