3rd Annual Middle Tn Frag Swap

Gary, let me know if you want help on the "poster" idea. I'm not what I would call "artsy" but I do have a lot of free time during the day when I'm supposed to be working but instead I'm spending my time surfing RC....I could redirect that surfing energy into poster design I suppose :)

I won't be back in TN until Thursday, but after then I can attack it if you want, just let me know

Not sure if anyone from Atlanta is planning on making the trip up... but I really am interested. I will have to ask around and see if maybe I could get a few others together. :)

That's certainly on the list of things to do... Any 'art-sy' type people out there?

Gary, I'd be happy to help with this. I'll be back in town on Thursday and could devote some time to it toward the end of the week. I'm also willing to help with other things if you need more help.

I can't believe there isn't a slew of "I"m bringing these frags" threads started. I hope EVERYONE isn't planning on only coming to buy. LOL

I'm sure the who's bringing what will come start poppin gup shortly. I've got a tons of things from zoas to gsp, ORA German Blue digi, caulastrea, monti caps (a neon green and a purple rimmed), some pipe organ, etc. The vast majority of my prices will be $5-$25. Once I get caught back up, I'll post.

Steve,

I spoke with Tom and he said he would like me to contact him closer to the date. He stops his road trips on the 7th of Jan, then starts back again on the 20th of Jan in NOLA, so he wants to see where he is when he gets home and is preparing for the next set. I'll post something as soon as I know.

I have not contacted any of the LFS' yet, so if anyone has spoken to them and they don't know what you are talking about, that is my fault. I will be contacting them all tomorrow.

frags to bring

frags to bring

Forgive me for intruding (I'm not a MTRC member, but plan to attend the swap)

So if someone is thinking about bringing a frag, should that be posted on this thread, or should a new one be started?

(or is there another thread that I missed)

Welcome to MTRC. Glad you found the thread.

There will likely be threads that people will start for the frags they plan to bring. Many will not post anything, but still bring a number of frags. It would probably be best to start a new thread, just to keep this one as linear as possible. We can create another thread with just links to others threads to stay organized.

Okay, here is what I've got so far. This is going to be a bit hard to read, but the dimensions of the community center are long one way and short the other... This is my first iteration (just about all subject to change).

Frag-Swap-2007-Model.jpg

The smaller areas are 5'x8' (8' tables). The larger areas are for vendors with elaborate set ups. They are 8'x10' (standard booth size). There should be plenty of room to walk around. I tried to hold 6 feet between tables as a minimum, with three feet behind each table for personal effects. Let me know if I missed anyone so far.

So far on raffle items, we have
(2)-$50 gift certificates from airwaterice.com
(1)-$25 gift cert from Drs. Foster and Smith
a couple of gift certificates from Florida Pets (value unknown right now)
ORA will be sending some promotional gifts/raffle items, etc., but cannot attend
PFO intends to make a donation to the raffle
(4)-$50 gift certificates from Pure Captive (awesome zoa site in Florida-Bryan is a great guy)
a 150W HQI pendant has been donated by Sunlight Supply out of Mount Juliet
I have spoken with both local fish stores (left messages with three others not in our immediate area) and they mentioned that they may donate to the raffle if they cannont make it to the swap (Saturday's are bad days for them to try to spare people).

We will also be looking for some sort of nice livestock item for a grand prize raffle item that will be raffled separately from other raffles (this ensures that the person who gets the item actually wants the item and can care for it). We hope to find something that is somewhat rare, but also hardy (if that makes any sense).

It's time to start posting your pictures of frags and dry goods for sale, and what you'll be looking for at the swap.

Gary,
Were you able to contact Mitch at Fishy Business and was he interested in attending or sending one of those Giant Regal Angel Fish he has swimming around in some of his tanks as a raffle prize .:fish1:

I will be coming... I have started a thread on Living Reefs the forum we use and will let you know how many will be coming up from chattanooga.

Thanks
Brandon

Hi All!

The poster is here! This should also be available on the MTRC website soon along with a pdf that should print fairly well (i.e. the directions should print nicely). So without further delay, here it is :)

One thing to note regarding the directions is the turnoff for Moss trail is fairly close to the interstate, so if you are coming from the north, keep your eyes peeled!

Thanks! For those wanting a link to the pdf for printing purposes, <a href='http://bellsouthpwp2.net/c/r/crumbletop/images/mtrc/MTRC_2007_FragSwapPoster.pdf' target=_blank>here you go</a> (about 180KB).

John,

I left a message with someone from Something Fishey yesterday who said he would get the message to Mitch. Same for Kermit's. I called the number I got from the website for Reef Down Under and left a message (not positive it was the correct number, though).

Thanks Jack. We'll get some of these printed out on photo paper and laminated so they hold up, then get them posted all around town (Petco's, Pet Smart's, Super Petz, etc.). We need people from different parts of town to chime in if they are willing to go and hang some posters at places like those listed (and others that might draw in people). We'll get you some laminated posters.

Gary:

For sponsors/donors, try Chris or Kristine at reefermadness, Drew at extreme corals dot com (spoke to him last week while in Dallas, he's been sponsoring local clubs and the like and might work with us on this), and you might try hitting up Anthony at Aquadesignz again (although his site has been quite slow lately). I have some ideas as well which I'll look into and let you know if I get lucky.

Dave
