40 Breeder FTS Thread

In my tank, i'm running 1 tunze 6025 and 1 nano-k. The tunze is on the left side pointing across the tank and the nano-k is on the right side pointing foward.

What are the sizes on you Koralias? In my system I favored several small pumps VS a couple big ones to create a constantly shifting high volume movement of water yet it is very spread out and unfocused. What I have is 2 X K1s, 1 X K-nano, 1 X MP10, 2 X return lines. I have some fairly fine aragonite an while I see some slight shifting, it is def. not blowing around.

Whoops nevermind, they are tunze powerheads. Im not quite sure because the guy gave me them with the tank but I believe they are the Tunze 6025 (660gph). I dont have a lot of sand, only about 1-1/2" deep. Oh and one is on the left and one is on the right and they are both pointed upwards kind of toward the center-front of the tank.

Sup guys,

I didn't get a chance to install the moonlight onto my t5 fixture so i just rest it on the lip of the CPR HOB. This moonlight is freakin bright. Its only 8'' long with 8 wide led bulb. I got it on ebay for 20 bucks and the herbal tea was good thanks for asking. :)

Wow that is bright! nice looking tank. I am looking into the R2 moons for my moon lights. Anybody have them???

Hey reef211 is that a meteor cyphastrea on the top of your reef? If so how does it like the bright lighting. In my 40B with 2 150W HQIs and 4 39W T5s I have to hide it in a dark spot.

yep, 1320GPH from two sources is going to blow some stuff around.

That seems like a lot of light! Do you notice any bleaching on any corals?

What do you think I should do?

How much rock do you have in your tank? I ask because I started my tank off with enough rock to bring it up maybe a third to half of the height of the tank and there were some open spaces in between the islands that I started wth. I bought a K3 and a K2 when I had this setup and the K3 would blow the sand around so I swapped the K3 for another K2. I have since added more rock which and I wish I had the K3 back because the rock work is limiting the flow to the sandbed.

If you're asking me- no, not at all. The MHs are 14K Phoenix bulbs and the T5s mix actinic and daylight. It is working well- I run lots of current and a chiller though:beachbum:

I'm only running about 98watts on my 40g. My t5 are only 24'' and so far all my coral are doing well. In that picture it looks bright but really its not.

Mordoff, I would take one of the tunze out, and replace it with a nano-k or k-1. two tunze 6025 is way too much flow on a 40g. its good if you are going BB and all sps.

I dont have much rock. I only have as much rock as the guy gave me with the tank. Heres a picture for reference (it was taken a few months ago when I got the tank):

Ya that's about how mine was with the K3. I had a couple of gaps in the middle as well but with that much sand out front your going to get sandstorms with those Tunzes. Not sure what your sand grain size is but mixing in a little bigger grains might help.

Nice tank BTW. Love the rockwork.

Thanks. I took some updated pictures today. You'll just have to excuse the frags in the sand. Ive added a couple rocks since then and I moved some things around. Enjoy.

Here's mine - I just tore down my 90 (well nearly), and crammed most things into here. Guess in general we were a little understocked in both tanks.
