Does anyone know if AGA 40 breeders are rimless? I sent an email to my LFS asking how much he could get a 40b for and he said he had a used AGA 40b that is drilled with one hole on the bottom for $25.

Well they have a plastic rim around them if thats what you mean. No middle brace . You better scoop that up thats a STEAL .

yes, super nano. i was lamenting between that and a 700, and thought the 700 would be a little big. the super nano is barely noticeable.

Great choices. That's going to be a ton of light over a 40 breeder! Maybe even too much for some corals! :)

I wanted to be sure I had front to back coverage, thats why I'm choosing a 6 bulb fixture. I do not plan on keeping SPS, mainly cause they aren't my favorite corals. I really like zoa's, rics and LPS.

I can always raise the light if need be.

I have been back and forth on tanks so much lately but think I have finally set it in stone.
Here is my equipment list, what do yall think about it.
40 breeder DT
40 breeder sump/fuge
Bubble magus NAC6 skimmer
glass holes 700gph overflow
eheim 1260 return pump
2x K2's or K3's (which do yall think for the 40?)
ATI or TEK 6x39
Sooner or later an ACjr controller
JBJ auto top off

I might go with the glass holes 500 gph and mag 5 pump. It would be cheaper, and would slow down the flow through the fuge.

Any improvements yall can think of?

I have 2 K-2s in mine and wish I had a K-3 to replace one of the K-2s with. Actually I wish I had a couple of Tunze 6025's.

I think you're going to need to plan on raising that light. A 6 bulb ATI or Tek over a 16" tank is going to be pretty strong for zoas rics and LPS. You will certainly have a lot of flexibility should you decide to keep more light demanding corals. $25 for a drilled 40B is a heck of a deal, nice score!

Yeah, as I get more experienced I might try SPS.

I hope it's a good deal. He said it has one hole on the bottom and is used. I have no idea if it is scratched or hazed. If so, I will just silicone a plate over the hole and use it as my sump.

What return pump are you using? I was going to get the 700gph and use an eheim 1260.

Mag5. I don't want 700gph going thru my sump. i do have a eheim 1260, i think they rate their pump flow rates very conservatively, so make sure to put a ball valve in that return line.

i doubt you can go wrong with the 700 or a 1260 if you want that flow.
