Setting up a sumpless 40G cube. dims are 24x20x20. simplicity is my hope. it has an overflow built in that i will use as a "sump"
Id like equipment ot be as hidden as possible and as minimal as possible. Goal is to have a very clean sps look with lots of long branching stags. ill start with a very shallow sand bed and see how it goes from there. All advice, experience and reccomendations welcome.

return: some submersible 300gph pump, quiet and efficient.

Lighting: 250 watt de 14k in a new sls lumenmax.

Skimming: remora pro with upgraded pump. hang on is required here unfortunately.

flow: Jury is out on this one. closed loop flow of some sort, thinking about going as large as a sequence reeflo snapper, but this is a lot of flow so maybe something more simple at 1200gph or so. silence is key; as is minimal power consumption.

chilled: a PCI nano chiller i think the cl300?

ill run carbon and consider O3. Ill start by dosing 2 part and see how it goes from there. Jury is also out on the salt. Anyone totally stoked on something new? If not, IO seems a safe bet.

Thanks

a mag 1200 pump would be fine, they run at about 99 bucks at marinedepot. the closed loop could have an oceans motions squirt on top with a bypass unit. I am in the process of setting up an oceanic 58 RR with a mag pump and an om squirt. Check out calvin's thread for ideas.
