400 watt IC ballast

Has anyone used the 120V Icecap ballast? I currently have a blueline E ballast but want to change to a Icecap to have better par with different bulbs, more so in 14k range. According to Sanjay's results blueline really doesn't have much to offer in 14k. Hmmmm what to do. My sps are doing fine but could probably be better with higher par.

i have one and use it to fire up an EVC 14K bulb. it is next to two other 400 EVC 14K bulbs that are run off pfo hqi ballast and the ice cap is dimmer by guessing 15-20%? the color is the same for all three bulbs though, the ice is dimmer but that is to be expected. hope that helps. eric

i heard that the icecap 400w ballast is the same as the evc tech and reef fanatic ballast, well since ic changed the ballast sometime ago. so i opted for a pair of them and am very happy.

I too have heard that the Ice Caps will put out less light power than other brand ballasts. I run 2 Ice Cap Ballasts on my 2 PFO 250 DE Pendants ... I don't mind the less power as 500 total Watts on a 92 Corner is a bit bright already!

I have IC and EVC 400w ballasts. Seem to run my bulbs identically. Look pretty darn similar...just different color cords. The boxes and weight are identical....
